Im new here, well not really but I don't post over here much. Anyways joined the SSOA here last month.
See you live in Portland? Is there any camaro shows there? Was over there (PDX) this last few weeks on business and vacation. Pop's mentioned he thought there was a camaro show in sept at Wilsonville chev? Can you confirm, also are there any other Camaro shows in portland?
I thought I saw once that steve the wrench is your husband? Do you own McGees's?
One last question... if you live in Portland why would you purchase your SS in ashland?

We live about 20 miles west of Portland.

Yes.

Next time you're here, give us a holler and we'll arrange to meet for dinner or something. We're always available to hook up with friends and meet new people.

Yes, there will be a Camaro show put on by the local Camaro club in September, in Wilsonville, OR. Unfortunately, it coincides with the caravan departure for the BIG F-body event in Bowling Green, KY, so we won't be able to attend. The Bowling Green trip is the priority this year. I hope we'll see you there!

Not Camaro shows specifically, but there is always an open show going on somewhere in the Metro area. There's never a lack of something to do around here. There are several great car shows in the area within an hour's drive....and sometimes it's hard to choose which one to attend on any given weekend throughout the summer.
Of course, our weekly standby is the informal Friday Night Cruise in Aloha, OR at the Dairy Queen/Bale's Thriftway Shopping Center at the intersection of SW Kinnaman & Farmington Road. Last week was heavily attended by a huge variety of cars.
The other Pac NW event is in Spokane, WA and is an open show put on by the Inland NW Camaro Club. I am not sure of the date, but I know it's on the Camaro Legends Tour schedule. It's a 9 hour drive for us, so I don't think we'll attend that one. If it were a Camaro only show, we might go because there will be more Camaros to view. With the open show, the Camaro numbers just aren't high enough to motivate us to drive that far.

We visited at least 12 Chevrolet dealerships in the area and none of them were knowledgeable or helpful about ordering an SS. It was very frustrating. We heard every excuse in the book (and some new ones) as to why we couldn't get what we wanted. Some didn't even know the SS was produced. It's amazing to hear the stupid things that people come up with when they don't know an answer to a question. All they had to say was "I don't know, but let me find out." They weren't even capable of doing that, so we found a dealership happy to help us get what we wanted.
I grew up in the Rogue Valley in Southern Oregon, so that's home to me. On one of our frequent visits, while my aunt & uncle were at the Ford dealership in Ashland, Steve and I went next door to Town & Country Chevrolet to give one last try at finding someone who would order our SS for us. Everyone there was extremely nice (not the usual cheezy salesman treatment one gets when they go to a dealership) and Herb, the Fleet Manager, was happy to do a Customer Sold Order for us. We arranged to order the SS as soon as they were being accepted and visited again a couple of weeks later. The whole process was as painless as it could be. Herb kept us informed through all of the steps. The car was ordered in less than 30 minutes and when we took delivery, we were out of there w/in a couple of hours. It would have been faster, but we stayed to chat with Sean Brown, the Service Manager. He was the one who did our PDI and has always been very helpful whenever we've had follow-up questions. It's worth driving 300 miles to get good service - we can't get it in the Portland area. Oh, the horror stories we could tell you that our local friends have told us!
Had I known this I would have contacted you. I was in Oregon/Tigard last week on business and vacation(folks live there). I didn't have my "personal" ride but I did have the company SS.

I won't be attending that event this year. Unfortunately I don't have enough vacation or money. Spent it all on the car, next year Im looking into the bowling green show or the ann arbor one. Maybe I won't goto the wilsonville show and we can meet as you stop thru Boise?
We will be attending the Pacific NW Camaro Club's All Camaro Show, in Bellevue, WA on August 11th
Im not planning to goto that one either. I want to see the legends tour one last time so Im going to spokane, its the following weekend the 17th.
Yes, Steve is my husband and we own McGee's Auto Service in Lake Oswego, OR
How funny... quite a few years back I took one of my cars there to get an electrical problem diagnosed. They couldn't find it...... ;') After many months the dealer finally found it was a bad ECM.
Steve and I went next door to Town & Country Chevrolet to give one last try at finding someone
Interesting.... T&C is one of my dealers I contact. I was in there last month and we were talking about my camaro's and the parts mgr. mentioned "these people that came down from portland to buy a car.... how the followed it down etc." I laughed and said I saw your story.... on the net. They seemed to think you lived down there. They remember a while back you bought a complete interior for it for down the road. Anyways thats one thing I am going to do for my 02. Next year Im going to buy a complete replacment interior. Anyways thanks for the "hangout" and I am eargly awaiting my SSOA goodies.

Definitely let us know when you'll be in town next time and we'll get the local group together.

We will be going through Boise. Depending on the time we pass through, maybe we can stop by for a bite to eat somewhere. If we're ambitious the first day, perhaps that will be our first night's stop. Email me your contact #'s and as it gets closer we'll keep in touch.

Have a great time and tell the Inland NW people hello for us.

We've owned McGee's since December of '99, so if it was before that, it was still owned by Steve McGee. I wonder if your name is still in the customer database?

Yup, that's us! My family lives in the Rogue Valley, and while my Gramps was still alive, we were visiting about every 6-8 weeks. We haven't been down there for a year & a half. Glad to know that the guys at T&C still remember us. I guess we left an impression? They've always been very friendly and helpful. We've recommended them to several people.

I think I was in there sometime around 94 or 95ish. I would have to go back and see if I could dig that receipt up. It came highly recommended by a friend. At the time I had some major electrical gremlins. My car had a digi dash and it was doing crazy stuff plus it ran like crap. Sometimes it ran fine others it would go nuts. Do you install SLP stuff, are you an authorized install center?

So you used to live there.... How funny that its you, small world! They are a good little dealer.
I'll send you an email here so when it gets closer to the show if you pass through idaho you can give me a call. Its not that far from Portland to here. Drove it on sunday. Took me little over 6 hours. Its an EASY drive, but then I drive all the time. I was averaging about 72mph. Stopped once for gas and once to stretch. These cars get great milage.... I was getting 28!

Yes, and yes. We're an official SLP supplier, installer, etc.....

Born & raised in Southern Oregon. Phoenix, OR is where I grew up. Got my degree in Ashland at Southern Oregon State. My '68 Chevelle (still have it, my aunt & uncle bought it new) came from the same location as T&C, but back then it was Selby Chevrolet. In 1996, we honeymooned at Lithia Springs Inn (next door) and could see the dealership from our room. At the time, we didn't know that our new Camaro would come from that same dealership! Strange how so many things come full circle.

If we end up in Boise for the night, we'd sure appreciate a recommendation for a place to stay.
Definitely give us a holler the next time you're in our area!
