"There is a difference between your stock y-pipe and the SLP y-pipe. One of the SLP sales reps told me to do this. Go under the driver side door and look under your car and you'll see the stock y-pipe. You can easily see that the pipe gets flat at one point. This sucks when you're looking for more power. The SLP y-pipe is a bigger pipe than the stock and isn't flat anywhere. It doesn't restrict like the stock one".

Would like some more opinions from the above.

I'm thinking about an aftermarket exhaust and wondered if switching out the Y-pipe would give me a deeper tone and more HP?

Thanks

You will love the sound and most likely not notice the change in power.

I am running the SLP Y-Pipe and I'm very happy with it. If you are not planning headders it is a nice way to finish off the exhaust system and it does sound better!

However, I did not notice more power in the car. It's not going to be like an air lid and filter change. My car does seem to run better in the high rev's...above 4K, but that could just be the sound.

i have a friend who writes for gm high tech and he tested the slp y pipe on his trans am and he turned the results into slp and he lost 3 hsp with the ypipe. so i dont think it does anything for the car so why waste the money on something that dosent give u more hsp.

I have the SLP Y, as does a few of us here.

I don't understand how you can lose hp with a Y - you've removed a restriction. It will work in concert with the air lid to help improve the air flow through the giant air pump (engine)!

I don't understand why either, but Steve and I made several runs with my car in one day and saw consistent losses with the SLP pipe.
