I saw in your picture you posted that you had the white "shipping" coating on your car behind the tires. Where/how did you get that, who makes it, how does it work, and how expensive is it? I would like to do the same for track days, and for the BG trip. Would it hold up for a trip as long as BG (2600+ miles each way)?

I am not speaking for John, but you can get that removable protective paper from an automotive paint store.3M makes it.A friend of mine that owns a body shop always puts that on fender tops while working under the hood. [Smile]

An inexpensive clear version of it would be most excellent for road trips and track days.

I found rolls at this link and strips at this link to many different kinds of 3M paint protection products.

Looks like 6 mil is the thinnest.

All of the descriptions say, "An alternative to bug shields or vehicle bras. 6 (or 12) mil, clear-coated urethane film that helps preserve the vehicle finish. The application is meant to be permanent; however, it can be removed if desired."

I use standard white Con-Tact brand contact paper from Walmart. A 24' by 18" roll is about 5 bucks. It's also great for making car numbers. It has a very mild adhesive backing and is perfect for this use...comes off without leaving any residue.

FYI, I just recently bought the clear version also made by Con-Tact...I'll probably use that from now on.

See ya in BG!

I tried use contact paper for numbers at Lime Rock last year. Did not stick to Zaino at all. Came right off. I finally used racers tape.

Did you try sanding down the Zaino first as to promote adhesion!?! [Razz] j/k

I was wondering the same thing, if contact paper would actually stick to Zaino'd surfaces.
