Cruise up to, and along the top of the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA, through Shenandoah National Forest, picnic at the famous Big Meadows....see deer, black bear, and some awesome scenery...fall leaves abound! The road is twisty and tight, a blast for sure! Date: Saturday, October 12th, will be the first run on the drive. Sunday, October 13th, will be the second run for those that want to go back a second day. On this day, we will head North on the Drive..which is a little lower elevation but some very scenic overlooks with excellent photo op’s! The official hotel of the run is the Hampton Inn, Stafford, VA. The Hampton is conveniently located right of I95, exit 143b. Going south on I95, after exiting, turn left onto Route 1, go to the bottom of the hill, through the light, and the Hampton is on the left. Coming north on I95, after exiting, turn left onto Route 1 at the light, the Hampton is 100 yards on your left. The Hampton offers! : handicap rooms, free continental breakfast from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., in-house fitness center, non-smoking rooms, outdoor pool (although it'll probably be too chilly for this!), free USA Today paper, kids under 18 with parents stay for free, cable tv and voice mail. Wash area with bucket will be available! So bring the Z7 and the waterblade! Make your reservations soon! Most folks come in on Friday night, we do a local cruise and grab a bite some place, then go back to the Hampton's parking lot for "social time"!
Here are some of the other motels that are within 5 - 8 min from the Hampton, and all located close enough so we dont miss seeing eachother and hanging out: Holiday Inn Express (540)657-5566. Comfort Inn: (540) 659-8999. Days Inn (right down the street from the Hampton, you can see it from there) (540)659-0022. Country Inn: (540)659-4330.
Final Staging Area, Sat. morning, October 6, 2001: Warrenton, Va., intersection of Buss.Rt. 29 and Rt 211. Turn right onto 211 heading west..there is a huge shopping center on your right, about 50 yds up the road.. Warrenton Town Center is the name. You cant miss it.. we will be in the West end of the parking lot, just turn in, you will see all the cars.
Departure time will be 9:30 A.M. Sharp. Be sure and get there in time to see your friends and get in line during the staging of the convoy. Have $10.00 cash on hand for the Skyline drive entrance fee. i will collect all the money prior to leaving so that the convoy is not delayed going through the gate one by one. I will hand the gate keeper the entire amount, the gate keeper will know the last car by a signal we will give. Lunch in the meadows! We will be parking the cars in a huge field at a stop on the drive called Big Meadows. There is a convenience type store there, along with a restaurant thats always super crowded. What most of us do is pack a picnic lunch to eat. When we get ready to park at Big Meadows, its my intention to get the cars parked in a nice format for picture taking instead of trying to arrange them later....so bear with me when we get there. Bring those camera's folks!!!!!!!! ;o)

Yea, several of us are scheduled to be at the last session at VIR for the season being held Oct 12th & 13th. November is the last session at Summit on the 2nd & 3rd. Is the LimeRock event on the 11th? Then we'll have to plan on being up there, too.
I'm still putting the engine in the T/A back together after the oil pump mishap at Summit in June, so I'm not sure which car will show up where.

Yes Limerock is on yhe 8th and 11th. 8th-SCDA 11th-NASA ( or vice versa ) Went to an SCDA event at NHIS a few weeks back and had a blast. I'm going to try to make both events at Limerock. It'll be my first session with NASA. Hope to see you there too!

I heard that the NHIS was pretty nice. A nice circuit. I wanted to make Charlotte in Sept but won't be able to this season.
If I do make it up to Lime Rock, it'll be for the 11th. Did you know that there was a re-structuring of the NASA Northeast region. John Berger is the chapter director now. He's the one that was instructing at the Glen, has the silver 98 SS with the 383. So he'll definitly be there.
