Yes i know that alot of you are iching to make a joke here, but dont itch any kind of rear end, especially someone elses, because you will get hit or slapped or sued. Anyways, the 3.23 gears are great, but i want more. I dont care if i can go 140, because i will never see it until i go to the race track with my buddy who races porsches(if that is how you spell it, damn europeans make everything so hard to understand and spell) so I am wondering where i can find 3.73 to 4.90's if any one has an idea let me know, preferred in slp, which makes some of the best intake parts i have come across. Also, I dont want to get anyone in trouble, but if some of you can give me a clue to the top speed of this car stock, i would like to know how fast i could go if i wanted to. thanks all. Matt.

You can get 4:10's from GM. Many here have done them. I believe top speed is something like 157

Hi - got my 4:10's from Tom Byrne. Had them installed at SLP in Troy.
They did a top speed run at Shanonville Race Track - removed the limiter and did 176 mph. Race track with pro driver.
4:10's do not change the top end. It is reached in 6th instead of 5th if you have a stick. With auto I don't know!

After you change the rear end, you'll need to reprogram your speedo etc. At that time a Hypertech is useful. You can change the fan on temp, the rev limiter points and mess with your top speed limiter.
You can check with Tom Byrne - he's one of the sponsors of this board, click on the banner ad.
And for the SLP rates and timing call Mark Schickel at 248-288-3066 ext. #112. They will have your car all day.
With the six speed I don't think the fuel milage is affected at all. Once you hit 6th gear the revs drop right down. You'll find driving style has more to do with gas mileage than the rear end does. The LS1's are very good with fuel.
Have fun!

Two it is a little easear on the gas for me. is it worth getting the new aubern (is that spelled right?) diff while i am in there? what are the benifits to this diff that the stock one did not have. I did not get that upgrade from slp when i baught the car.

That's been debated here and there many times.
There's nothing wrong with your Torsen. I have the optional Auburn, but have not heard of any one having trouble with the stock set up. If $$s count, I'd leave the stock one in.
3.73's will work just fine. Enjoy the ride, just make sure the gear install is done by someone who knows what they're doing. Posts: 5558 | From: Windsor, Ontario. Canada | Registered: Feb 2000

FYI, ...I believe the rears put into the Berger and Tom Henry Camaros are 3.73 gears, both done by GMMG Inc. (Matt Murphy & Co.) GMMG Inc ...Links from this website will get you to both places where you'll find spec information on the cars, ...possibly listing who makes the gears.
