RBL Products website , the company who makes the collision wrap. I called them to locate a disributor in my area. For me (in upstate NY) it was Keystone Automotive Industries, Inc.
I used the collision wrap to protect the front, rockers and lower fenders on my SS for the trip to BG. At around $35 for a 2' x 50' roll, ...it's pretty cheap. (It's not as good a quality as the Prostripe stuff, but for temporary protection, it worked fine.) If you're looking for something more permanent (as I will for the ROCKER PANELS), ...definitely check into Pro-Stripe.
...and remember the tranparent protective film on the new cars from the plant we toured?? here is a scan of a label off a roll. (sorry, couldn't fit a roll in my pocket )

I used the 3m paint protection film on my SS for the BG trip and it worked well . Left it on the whole time and could not even tell it was there.

Thanks Kevin....we went without any front end protection on the way home....the car looks terrible! It's going to take Steve a looong time to get all of the bugs off tomorrow.
On a more disappointing note, our windshield took a hit by a BIG rock and left a heck of a spiderwebbed chip in it. A dime sized shatter and quarter sized cracks spidering out from it.
I'll post a pic after I make a photo album of our trip.

...Sorry to hear about your windshield cracks ... ...and those darn bugs ...But once STEVE ( ) cleans the car, ...I'm sure you;ll both be
Glad you made it back safe, ...it sounds like you'll be replacing the windshield...

Thanks Kevin...and thanks for letting me use some. It kept those signatures in great shape (and just like play-do, took a mirror image of them). After 2700 miles, the leading edges peeled back only an inch or two (through hard rain and a 145 mph stint ).

Great info on this "collision wrap stuff". I want some and I do have a bra from Carbras.com.
Today I phoned some local body supply stores and they sell the RBL wrap at $69.95 a roll (36'x 100 Ft.). Another store has "Hi-Stick" collision wrap at about the same price. Where can I get this stuff cheap or in smaller quantities?
Would it be a good idea to put this stuff on UNDER my bra to protect the paint even more?

I think i remember Teri's pics of her's with the wrap underneather her bra (car bra) on her trip to bowling green. I think it's a good idea so the bra wont directly rub on the paint.

yes take it from me...my very expensive paint job got ruined by the darn bra!!!!!!!!
if i still have this SS in september i will get a hold of some of the shipping stuff(same as Gm uses) through my friend. I will apply under the bra to prtect the SS's nose!
otherwise whatever other Camaro i take down there i will apply it the same way with the protective wrap and then the bra!

The $35 I paid (2'x50') was through a friend's bodyshop, his cost. As for smaller amount, ...you'd be surprised how fast you'll use it up.

Again, I highly recommend the 3m paint protection film. You can purchase as much or as little as you want from a distributor. I used butcher paper, using water on the plastic coated side stuck it to the front , traced, then cut a template. Didnot prep the paint , because I was planning on removing it, and felt a layer of zaino would probably help in the removal process. It came off even over my stripes without a problem. A little more time consuming but well worth the effort.

I used the Pro - Stipe stuff and just removed the front end film a couple weeks ago. The paint underneath was perfect. The stuff on the wheel wells is still there!

nvmy02ss, what bra did you have that damaged your paint? Did you remove it daily? If you leave your bra on your car for more than a few days then this is bad...... and when it rains, you need to remove it immediately!
Terri, would you expand a little more on using this wrap under your bra? Any probs removing it? Will heat and UV make it a "bear" to remove?
I'm gonna buy a roll of this RBL Collision Wrap tomorrow.

Dan, If you're looking for something for 3-4 months use, ...The 3M Prostripe is probably the way to go. It is more costly than the RBL collision wrap, however much more durable as it is meant moreso as a permanent application (not that it doesn't come off). As Hawkeye and others have mentioned, the Prostripe is great stuff. I plan on getting some and placing it on my rocker panels, and leaving it. I saw Hawkeye's car at BG with the Prostripe, it's awsome, ...could hardly notice it. AND, ...as Hawkeye mentioned, ...it can be removed easily. Prostripe cost: About $30 for 6inch x 5-6 ft
On the other hand, RBL collision wrap is about $35-$50 for a 2 ft. x 50 ft. roll. It's not meant for permanent application, and you CAN see it on the car(it does have print on it). It comes off real easy, and as with Prostripe, ...NO residue is left behind. I used it to (and from) Bowling Green and it worked great. Under a car bra? ...definitely a great idea to prevent 'scuffing'. The main decision for me was COST. There is no question, the prostripe is better stuff, ...yet the collision wrap is much cheaper. Other than that, it really depends on what you want it for.
...Hope this helps, Kevin Both are available at most autobody supply stores.

Thanks a TON Kevin. I really wish I had SOMETHING on the front of the SS this winter, it is quite worse than last. Since it's almost over and I have no money, I'll probably go with the 3M prostripe stuff next winter. I can definately say my SS isn't a 'show car' but would like to protect from really harsh weather. I'm sure this stuff will do the job. Thanks again, Dan

Yes, after being on the car a week, it was a bit inconvenient for Steve to remove. It didn't want to come off in one piece. He wasn't happy about the time it took to get it off of there and clean it up, but it was better than having paint damage.
The collision wrap is the better way to go. We experimented w/the clear Contact paper, and although it worked, the collision wrap is specifically made for being on paint, and I would go that route next time.

Take it off at the destination. We wouldn't want to drive around at the event with bugs and mud and gunk all over the car (and underneath the bra) all weekend at the event.
The wrap definitely protects the paint from most hazards, but the bra provides some cushioning from rocks.
