After work today got in my car, put the key in the ignition, tried to start the car and nothing happened. Immediately assumed my battery was dead. Tried a couple of more times same result. I noticed I had a security light on in the upper right of the instrument panel. while I was sitting there for about 30 seconds cussing the security light went off. I tried to start the car and it started right up. Anyone have any idea what caused this to happen?

I saw that one time on my impala, looked it up in the manual and it said it was the chip in the key. Keys were wet and it never happened again so I chalked it up to the moisture.

The wires for the security system that go to the ignition cylinder are broke. My SS did this a few months ago. From what I've read, it's pretty common.
Your dealer will fix it under warranty.

i read somewhere, maybe the owners manual, that if you put the key in the ignition too quickly that the security code won't register and the engine wont start. other than that, maybe the chip is going bad.
