My car is in for waranty repair. It is the rear plate that holds in the rear main seal. The dealear says that it is warped, and a new gasket will not work. The kicker is that this plate has never been ordered before in southern california, which is kinda scarry. Now they checked all dealears in the country, and not a single one has this plate, so they have to make it!!! They say about 2-3 weeks for the plate to show up. They have already had the car for a week now. I dont want to drive the 99 lumina they gave me for that long, I want my baby back. So i am asking help in finding a place to get this plate. I think there are a few people in here that can help me. All I really need is a part # (which they probally already have), the name of the place of where i can get it, a contact #, and a price. I will pay for it if i have to, just to get my car back, and the dealear will pay me back. Any one with information, please let me know. also i was wondering, when doing a job like this, dosent the tech make sure that there is a part avail. before removing the old piece?? or is it just me. I miss my car.

Here's the part: 28 - Rear Main Seal Retainer . 12559287 . $61.40
First of all, and Steve can probably comment on this...I have never heard of a "warped" rear main seal retainer.
Second, the LS1 block is a fairly common item, they have to make a retainer?

I had my friendly parts guy do a check in this area and they show two, one at Landmark and one at Bill Heard. This took all of about 5 min. So it sounds like they're not trying very hard.

A good parts guy (or gal) is worth their weight in gold.
Make them do their job, Camaro_Woody. If you find out the part number, post it here. A locate can be done of all the inventory in the Country.
