Not too long ago one of the posters to this board mentioned that he had a Camaro SS as a company car until recently but had to give it up. What a sad story.
Well I'm here to tell you that next week Chevy is building me a new silver two seater. It's got a 285HP V8, rear wheel drive, locking rear end, cloth bucket seats, 4 wheel anti-lock disk brakes, 16" wheels, rack & pinion steering, power windows, power locks, remote entry, heated mirrors, tinted windows, composite headlights, CD player, and a really, really big trunk.
It's my new 2003 Express 1500 cargo van. It will replace the leased 2000 Express van I've been using for the last 2 1/2 years in my computer business. The 2000 was a V6 with just the standard equipment and is all white. This new one is going to have all the things I realized I was missing on the current one. I spend a lot of time in the van on a daily basis so this should be more fun and more comfortable. Anyway, I just had to tell someone - and have a little fun with it on the way.

Sounds like a nice unit for the intended purpose. The upgrade to V8 power should really make a difference.

YES!!! IT is sad... since it was me. I miss that car.... now I'm stuck in a SUV. But whos complaining when its free. I'll have to post a pic of my "company" SS sometime. Car did have one benefit.... it "sold" 2 other SS's. I bought one and my parents bought one.

With all you 'GM insiders' on this Forum, let me ask you a question.
The only issue I've run into with ordering my new van is that the dealer says I can't order the 16" 'mag style' wheels on a cargo van that you can get on a passenger van. The only two wheel options for me are the standard stamped steel wheels or the slotted ones - both are painted grey. I spend a lot of time every day in my van and would like for it to look nice and be fun. If I can't get the better looking wheels from GM, I'll just have to go with aftermarket ones. It seems like such a waste to get the van with the standard wheels and tires and then get new wheels and have to have the tires mounted and balanced all over again - not to mention having the wheels themselves just sitting in storage.
My question is this (finally) - is there someone inside the company I could talk to who could help make this switch on the wheels during production?

Seeing that you are getting the 1/2 ton your dealer would be the best bet. With the production due next week I thing any chances of getting them swaped are slim to none.
