Just wanted some feedback. I just purchased a 40 in. tube TV yesterday and in looking on the net I can get it for $600/$300 less.It was $3100 at the store and I got back a $300 gift card to use later. On the net the same TV was $2500 shipped.

My question is would you ship something this large and feel comfortable or not [ugh] .

Well theoretically they shipped to the store to begin with...you have to figure they pack them knowing it's not going to a smooth ride. Nice thing about the boxes is you can generally tell if they have been damaged on the way, I'd bet you'd be OK, and hey, for $600 you can get some toys for the car!

I'd go for ordering online. Make sure you get insurance on an item like that and check into their return policy just in case! [Smile]

Order a large TV online? No. Over the phone? That depends on who you're dealing with.

I purchased a rather large Mitsi HDTV a few months back from my usual A/V source in NJ. I've been working with them for many years and have never had any problems whatsoever - so I knew they'd make sure I was happy. Short version of the long story: I ordered in-house delivery (didn't want a curb-side dump-off [Roll Eyes] ) and no matter how many calls were made, the delivery company insisted that I had ordered curb-side [Mad] . Delivery was delayed a week until they confirmed in-house set-up. The truck arrived and the driver asks "Where do 'ya want it?" I said "Family room" - he laughed and said, "No way - where in the driveway???" [eek13] Not a good sign. Many frantic phone calls and several $$ later, they agreed to set it up inside.

Would I do it again? Maybe. If the delivery company were different (ie. competent)? Yes. I saved several thousand dollars off retail as well as off the best local price.

BTW, my TV rocks!

Well I called and they said 2/4 weeks for delivery [Frown] and several days to get it out. With Christmas on the way and Superbowl I am going to spend the little extra and keep the wife happy [Smile] . With the gift card X-Mas shopping just got a lot easier
