The oil filter from the factory is a blue (AC Delco) filter. Yours could be an original, ...or (obviously) someone could have replaced the original with another AC Delco.

I could have sworn that the original oil filter on my 2002 SS was white with the AC Delco name and part # in blue. I should have saved it. It diffently did not resemble the PF44 that is sold at the autoparts store. Posts: 5682 | From: Dearborn,Mi. | Registered: Feb 2002

Yup, OEM (AC-Delco) is white. The blue one is replacement parts, and also AC-Delco. Then you have the black Ultra Gold (only UPF44), which is also AC-Delco. Posts: 63 | From: Santa Clarita, Ca | Registered: Sep 2001

...I kept my original (Blue) oil filter. For what I don't know, ...but still have it, and it's blue. They must have installed both colors.

Kevin, you and Steve must have come from the same mold. I'd love to see you two compare original and spare parts stored.

On my 02 when I did the first oil change at 500 miles it was a blue one. GM used to use black ones from the factory to denote the origional filter. Recently they switched to all blue.... there was a service bulletin published for dealers. I'm currious why yours were white.... at any rate your cars must have been early 02 builds.

It's Ginos fault. He made the factory run out of blue paint. All they had left was white primer.

Not necessarly..... the replacment ones are blue also. When did you do your last oil change? If you bought it used I'm currious how many miles it has. You can also wait until the change oil light comes on.....
