I'm trying to set a custom Avatar to no avail. I go into my profile, enter the HTTP address, the picture shows up, I click "Use This Avatar" but when I save my profile and go back to review it, the Avatar is blank again.

Is there some trick I'm missing?

I've been having trouble with mine too. It all depends on where your picture is hosted(ie.webshots, msn, etc) I was using MSN photo's and it worked for a day and then gone.
This one came from my www.villagephotos.com
The pic is blurry.

Thanks for the reply.

I have a picture on my earthlink site and it doesn't show up. I don't know what's up with it....

The other odd thing is that the Avatar picture is square, yet other people here have pictures that are rectangular. The pic I want to use is longer than it is tall, and when I select it, the board scrunches it into a square .. I dunno ...

Why doesn't this board have avatars available like the CSSOA board? They have "SS","Z28" and others.

Probably because no one has asked for them.

If J.R. gets suggestions for the board, he'll implement them if he can.

Hey Teri ...

How'd you get that non-square SSOA logo in your profile? Or is that a perk for being an admin. [Smile] [Smile]

Here's the image I'm trying to put in:

 -

Since it shows up in this post, it should show up in my profile, no?

I have mine uploaded on my website and I have it linked from the AVATAR section of my profile.

You need to go to your profile, click on "select a different Avatar image" and enter your avatar link into the field.
Click on "Set URL", then click on "use this avatar image", then save your profile and you're good to go. (I did it for you so I could describe the process.)

Thanks, Teri!

Did you do this process for my account, because the avatar is now working and I didn't do anything.

Previously, I had done exactly what you described and it did not work. The avatar would show up in my profile, I'd save it, then go bac and it was gone.

Might there be some permission problem with the board that doesn't allow users to set an external avatar, but let you do it because you're an Admin?

Thanks again!

I don't have any special powers.
It took me a few tries before it stayed there, so I don't think it's a user vs. admin function, but
Bandit needed help with his, too.
If anyone else needs help, let me know....I'll see what I can do.
