.....I have a '98 SS - did it come with the LATCH system, or was that only available in later models? If that's true, is there a retrofit kit for earlier models? Thanks!

LATCH is a system that most or all child car seats conform to now. It requires tether points in a vehicle to "latch" onto. I believe in 2000 or 2001 the guv'ment started requiring all cars to have them in the back seats. However, prior to that, many cars already had it in them.

actually, there is no need to worry about LATCH. A properly installed babyseat with a seatbelt is just as safe.

You should have a tie down for a teather in the back behind the rear seat.

The best thing about the LATCH system is it makes installing the seat a breeze.

That's what those are for . I thought they were to tie down packages [Roll Eyes] so they wouldn't roll around with the seat down . You learn something new every day [Cool]
