My name is Brian... and I am a Camaro-Holic. Thanks for the feedback! I'm really happy with how they turned out, although you always look at something like that and think theres more you can do.
Here's the story... First off, I cut the packages at the bottom and up both sides the part of the package that contained the car, but not top of that section so it's now "hinged" if you will. That way, I can take them out to play and put them back when I am done.
There are two rivet like fasteners on the bottom of the cars that I drilled out in order to take them apart. The body and the chassis (I'd guess you'd call it) come right apart and the interior section falls right out. Then there are two more fasteners that hold the windshield that I drilled out to remove those too. The Matchbox car's interior is a nasty neon blue color, so I painted the dash and console with some Testor's acryl flat black model paint and the Neutral was Testor's enamel Wood colored model paint. Using a combo of a fine model brush, sometimes a toothpick, sometimes a pin. The Johnny Lighting's interior was a little easier as it was already black, plus the interior unfolded allowing me to do paint the door panels two tone.
With the windshields off, I sprayed a couple of coats on the bodies using a Testor's model airbrush kit that I got at Walmart for another project I am working on. For the body paint I picked up a couple of bottles of duplicolor touch-up paint GM Pewter U11 at Autozone. Mixed 4 pts paint with 1 pt airbrush thinner. Since they were already painted on, I masked off the tail lights on the the Johnny L car using scotch tape and an exacto knife. After painting the body, I used Testor's Acryl Gloss black to trim the grilles and flat black to paint the windshield frame on the Matchbox. The Johnny L was already painted. After that, it was a matter of putting it all back together with some model cement... and that's it... for now!

i have yet to see a camaro in my area in a matchbox and i sure would love one of them!

When I was looking, I found a ton of the Matchbox cars at both K Mart and Walmart, plus I have seen them on Ebay. The Johnny L car was hard to find in town here... only found one and ended picking up a couple online.
