I was driving to work today and heard some rubbing and was getting some resistance when turning the steering wheel... left or right...

Hopped out of the car and sure enough.. there is about 1/4" gap between the steering column and the driver's side header.. BUT when you turn it to the right or left.. the bold that holds the steering column together barely rubs the header.

I called FLP.. they said to get under the dash on the inside of the car..and loose then the flange that holds the stearing column in place.. and then push it slightly to the left.. and re-tighten.. and it will give it the necessary room.

WELL I'LL BE DAMNED! ??? weird stuff maynard.

Is this the first time you were driving it? Why do you think you didn't notice it before?

I have only driven the car twice since putting the headers on (remember I have only driven 700 miles since Bowling Green)...

The first day I drove about 10 miles or so.. and never recalled hearing or feeling any problem..

Today.. it was only when making sharp turns.. and its "barely rubbing"..

I would say I have actually felt something maybe 4 times total.. and all 4 times it has been when the car has chassis/body flex... because if you pop the hood sitting parked.. there is a good 1/8" between the bolt and the header..

You think I'm lying or something? Sheesh. [Frown]

No, no I was wondering whether or not you thought something had shifted position since the install otherwise I thought you would have felt it right away.

I didn't notice anything like that after mine were installed. One other note. Last week I went to change oil and oil filter. This would be the first time since the headers were installed. I loosened the drain plug, but couldn't get it all the way out, the head of the plug was against the header. I had to pry the header away a little to get the plug out. Then I ground the head(indented) of the plug till it was even with the head. It then went in with no problem. The filter was not a problem though. What little differencies are in each car. I am glad I didn't take it to a garage to have the oil changed for the first time. Check that out J.R.
