Ok I've decided "IF" I can get it into the fleet I'm going to order another SS . My question is do you get the trailering package with it or not ?
Now with all the options 6-CD changer(yes), Auto heat controlls(no),Onstar(no),and all 3 colors there is a lot to choose from .
Any comments from anybody that has one or test driven one

I would get the auto heat controls. I've got them in my HD and love it. The onstar is cool to. I've had to use it 3 times to get the keys out of the car On another note you might be able to get a custom color, I remember doug97ss saying that his dealer had order some custom trucks, just another thought.

Ed, is it dual climate controls? If so I have that in the Cadillac and it is nice. The wife is always too cold when I want the a/c on. The towing package will give you a hitch, wiring, oil cooler and trans cooler and maybe even a better axle ratio and h.d. shocks and springs. You don't need to tow anything if you do not want to. The climate controlls are dual the onlr difference is if they are aautomatic. Have had the auto and I can take them or leave then.
The trailering package basically comes with the wiring package and a high capacity air cleaner. There is no option of different springs, axle or anything.
Custom colors are not an option since I will be putting the vehicle into the GM fleet if posable. Am looking at the red but also considering the black.

No offense intended, but I think it's a shame that they're "soiling" the SS badge by putting it on a pickup truck. The combination of "sport and truck or utility vehical" is an oxymoron.

I believe they come standard with the trailering package.... but last time I looked the SS was on the banned company car list. I do like my new Deville though...... Posts: 1045 | From: Seattle, WA | Registered: Nov 2001

Have the list and did not see it. I did order a 2500 HD earlier this week though . Gino got to CVO and changed the interior to Dark Pewter though . Was lucky got it changed back .
Youre going to love that Caddy. I believe in your area DanP likes to wash them as well as Hawkeye around here .

You know, I REALLY should go into business and charge for my wash and wax jobs
I agree with the trailoring. I dotn like trucks much, but if I had to get one, it woudl either be the Silverado SS or the Dodge SRT-10. (Ok, in that case I'd pick the dodge over the chevy )

Trust me if I could have got a SS I would have. Of course red vehicles are faster and thats what I want... to match my red camaro.
You Should enjoy the HD... at least you won't have to "bumb" rides anymore....
So far I have had the caddy a week, actually 2 days I picked it up and left town. I only have 100 miles on it but love it.... and night vision is WAY to cool!

I would have to say that you never know what GM is up to nowadays as their Performance Teams are always messing around with bigger engines in all of their vehicles including the Silverado SS. There was an experiment with the 502 in the SS and it put out a pretty good punch accoring to John Voss who is in charge of these special vehicles. He is the one who put together the ZL-1 in the mid 90's with the 502 and man did the car get up and go. Its possible GM could give the nod with the 502 in the SS as they want to keep ahead of the competition now within all areas including performance.

The SS is available. I think it has the 345 HP Vortec V8 if I am not mistaken. It has been revived again like it was back in the early 90's I believe when it had the 454 but a mediocre 235 HP I believe.

Do you have a choice in what you drive. The wife gets to pick an envelope and whatever the keys fit is what she gets to drive .
I agree 100% about the color being a factor in the speed of the vehicle
To an extent.... Because of my remote location, feld rep etc. etc. I can get away with a little more out here. According to the folks on my team I seem to have the midas touch when it comes to company cars..... While most at GM are having to drive oldsmobiles I have lucked out and haven't driven one in a long time. My first company car was an olds. Lets see I've had a Bravada, Serria, SS Camaro, Avalanche with corsa exhaust and now the Deville. Don't tell anybody though... next time they'll make me drive something I won't want.... My rule of thumb is do first ask for forgivness later.... Posts: 1045 | From: Seattle, WA | Registered: Nov 2001

The only choice she has when she gets a car is the envelope she gets to pick. It could be anything from a Z06 to an Astek . But for the price you cant complain (cept for the century she had).

The people in her office are amazed at what she has had. Out of the last 3 two have been Escalades(suv &ext) plus the Century (1st one she has ever Bitched about). Then before that I believe it was a DeVille .Lets see what she gets next/she is due in the next week or 2 .

Your wife must be an 8th level...... Maybe some day for me...
I have rented a few centurys... not exactly the best car GM makes.... that and the poor 3100 is a bit underpowered in that car. Can't complain about a 'Sclade! Guy on my team is driving an EXT he gets more looks and people asking him about it then any car he's ever driven.....

I have a Silverado SS. I love it. It might not be as fast as the Lightning or upcoming Dodge, however it can be driven in the snow and it has a back seat. The closest thing out there is a Harley truck (2wd) or a Hemi in a Dodge. I ordered everything but the engine block heater. Total MSRP was $41,640.00. Options were; onstar, XM sat. radio, 6 disc changer, auto dual climate controls, towing package. I ordered Arrival blue...so far only 11% have been blue. I like it because it is new and different.

Maybe she will opt for the ZO6 . Just think having a Vette with an SS along side of it. What a marriage. Posts: 2841 | From: Westland, MI | Registered: Apr 2003

She wound up with a DeVille . Even if it was a Z06 it would stay on the outside of MY garage .
