Hey all, As the subject line says, I'm taking a little road trip cross country in a few weeks. I am going to bring my ss to the shop to have a couple of things looked at (creaky clutch, metal clunking from the rear) before I hit the road. The car is an 01ss with approximately 24k. Only service since I bought it with 7k has been oil changes and tire rotation. Any suggestions? I figured I will change the fuel filter, transmission and differential fluid when I get back, but thought I should get some additional advice. Thanks! [Smile]

We've put over 55,000 miles on our '99, most of it on road trips, and haven't done anything special other than routine maintenance. The car has performed flawlessly.

If you have the auburn diff it calls for more frequent fluid changes than the Torsen.

AlL I would suggest is the basic fluid checks (oil, anti-freeze, etc) and belt checks (serpentine and alternator). The belts should be okay....it's just for peace of mind. It would be good idea to check tire pressures too. Really, with the low mileage you have on the car, everything should be okay.

Thanks! That's what I thought. I was thinking of changing the rear differential fluid (Torsen), but there are no leaks, whines, etc. and I would hate have the dealer change the fluid and then have a small leak or whine that I need to fix on the road. I'll just change it when I get back...

I have an '02 with 25k on it, and the only major stuff i've had done to it besides the oil changes and tire rotations is rear diff changed, brake fluid flushed and changed, and trans fluid changed. also check you air filter.
