Just a heads up. I picked up two 6-packs of Mobil 1 10w-30 at Kmart for $24 each. It seems like a good price, since Pep Boys was $4.89/qt. The sale ends 5-31-03.

I've also seen the 5 quart Mobil 1 containers on the shelves at wally world last week for something like $18.88, which would put it around the $3.75 per quart range. I just saw 10W-30, not 5W-30 though, so I didn't buy any. Probably won't make any difference, but I am not going outside GM recommendations.

It's good to hear! Sam's club should be cheaper than WalMart and others or why are we paying a membership fee... This is not always the case....

You think like I do. The bearing clearances in these engines do not need thicker oil.If you had a engine bearing failure, most dealers will send out a sample of the old oil to get it analyzed.I am sure that 10w-30 would hurt anything at all,but I would rather stick to the factory recommended oil thickness. I called WalMart Auto Center and asked if they had 5W-30 Mobil 1 in the 5 quart containers, and they said they do normally carry it along with the 10W-30 5-quart jugs, but it's not in stock right now, they're awaiting more, should be in by this weekend they said. So there's hope. I'll go stock up for that price!

I picked up Mobil 1 5W-30 Synthetic at Murrays. I have always used 5W motor oil in my vehicles. Posts: 2841 | From: Westland, MI | Registered: Apr 2003
