I was wondering how long should you wait before waxing a new vehicle.

Short of it......... I ordered a truck 1st week in May and it Is being delivered today (June 2). So the paint is probably only 7 to 10 days old. How long should I wait for a good wax and should I do a good cleaning on it before I wax as it did not have time to sit on a lot or at the plant.

Ed,I never seen anything in a owners manual that stated to wait so many days or weeks before waxing. The factory paint is oven cured and I have waxed new cars many times with no concerns. [Smile]

I'd wash it(with Dawn if you are Zanio-ing), clay bar it, wash it again and then apply your favorite wax/polish.

When I picked-up my new SS, it was loaded with rail dust. The paint, especially the hood, felt like sand paper. Clay bar took care of it, made it feel smooth.

Enjoy the new ride!

I dont think that there should be any rail dust. I think that the plant it was made at and where she will pick it up at are only 2 or 3 miles apart [Big Grin]
