Him, my brother and a friend of my dad's were in the UP early saturday morning riding their bikes and a deer ran into my dad's bike knocking him off which sent him tumbling all the while my brother was trying to stop to avoid running him over and he ended up laying his bike down. My brother walked away but my dad is in the hospital with 6 broken ribs, a small hole in his lung, stitches in his arm & knee and in a ton of pain. They moved him out of ICU this afternoon but said they will probably keep him for another 4 days just to make sure he is ok. Orginally they took him to a hosiptal in St Ignace but transferred him to Petoskey.
If anyone thinks helmets are useless I will post the pic of his because if he didn't have it on he would not be alive.
thanks everyone.

Realy really sorry to hear what happened. I really hope your dad and brother recover fully, and fast for that matter. Just shows you how things can happen in the blink of an eye and when you least suspect. I'll be syaing prayers for them both and your family Tom.

You have my prayers. One of them will be thanks that he made through this and the others will be for a speedy recovery. That is scary! I am not sure what to say except we are here.

Thanks for all the support and prayers they really do mean a lot.
He made a huge step today. He walked on his own power with a walker, something they said he wouldn't be able to do for at least another day or two. And he is generally feeling better. They are still doing daily x-rays just to make sure nothing is going wrong, it looks like he should be home this weekend.
He is very determined and has a mind set to get healed quickly.
thanks again everyone.
