Took my car down the street yesterday early in the morning to get the oil changed. I made arrangements to meet one of the mechanics there so I could hang out while he drained the oil. All I wanted them to do was drain the oil and put on the new Mobil 1 Filter. How hard is that?

Anyway, the guy was not there - took a long weekend. Another guy puts my car on the lift and guess where he places it? Yep, right where the front fenders bolt to the frame!

HOW STUPID! [Mad] I did't even notice it damaged the car until later. I was leaving work and I see my R Front fender bent out with a huge gap between the door and the rocker pannel. So I went back over there right away.

The head mechanic was able to bend it back in place wihtout much trouble and I guess it's okay. I told him I was going to take it to my buddy's body shop and have him check it out. He agreed to pay for any touch up that might be necesarry ..... I guess that's all I can ask for at this point. I think it's really okay, but it bummed me out.

I just want to find a place close by to get the oil changed [Confused] . I guess I'll go back to the head mechanic - he'll never allow that to happen again.

Happy 4th and thanks for reading.

Ryan

Ryan I am sorry to hear what happened to your car. I can understand the heartache and anger you felt when you noticed the damage.

I hope all is well with your car.

That sucks, You can always change it yourself. I do mine and I dont have to worry about some idiot damaging it.
Taking an hour of my time is far less than the time in pain and anger to get it fixed.

Actually if that's all that happened (we hope)you should consider yourself very lucky. It often results in severely bent metal and broken front fenders. Hope that's all it is.

Whenever I take my car anywhere a lift will be used I ALWAYS
give careful instructions on how to lift.

I have marked the proper lift points with some yellow spray paint (on the inner frame rails front and rear).

My instructions to a shop are to lift only (and only) on the frame rails where there is yellow paint.

Even with that I have had my fenders spread a couple of times. It gets to be really really frustrating; especially when the car was a hoisr queen for a while.

Looks like it will be back on a hoist again soon. Looks like the pinion seal is starting to leak yet again. Time for the semi-annual change. [Roll Eyes]
