Two nights ago I was on my way home and spotted a '78 Camaro near the side of the road. The body looked straight as flew by so I turned around to check it out. Cut to the chase, it was pretty good, so I called the guy on the spot he met me there and we made a deal. After a freind arrived I got in and drove away for $450.00.

I will post a picture or two soon.

Congrats on the new wheels, is this one the second car (beater) or is it just going to be the project car? Post some pics when you can.

BTW, great price

Would you believe my very first new car was a black 1978 Camaro Z28 ...not sure if it was loaded ... It had air and power windows ... NO factory radio ... and of course the 350, 4 speed and 3.73 gears. I ran headers and no cat through the factory resonators. [Eek!] [Big Grin] Some days I think I'd like another, but most days I accept the fact that a replacement would never live up to the memories ....so I'm making new ones [Smile]

Funny you should mention that. i was driving around yesterday and saw a '67 Camaro siting on the street in a nice neighborhood. upon closer inspection, i saw it was a 350 SS coupe. the body looked straight. and the only major damage i could see was the front passenger fender, it was not dented, but the paint had peeled and the metal was rusted. all four tires seem to be pretty new. it is a collum manual shifter, though i did not see the shifter lever, must have been broken off. it had a 12-bolt rear (dont know if that was an option or not). the interior head liner was in perfect condition and all the chrome and lights were in great condition too. and all the glass is intact.

it definitely needs some work; but if the body only has rust on the front fenders and the frame is straight, this could be a great project car. did not see a for sale sign, but you can tell the car has been sitting there for a long time. it has the orig. license plate, and i had an officer friend of mine run it. it came back to that car and was not stolen. the owner was born in '44, so he could very well be the orig. owner.

pretty neat find if you ask me. wonder what he would take for it? [Smile]
