Got a call from Tom Henry last week...sold the last new Tom Henry Racing Camaro (Monterey Maroon Metallic) to one of our Military Men serving in Iraq. Patrick actually called from Iraq using a series of field phones to put the deal together and his wife signed the papers. I sent him an email of congratuations and thanked him on behalf of his country for all he's doing to defend freedom. We joked that we were going to refer to his new TH Camaro as the "IRAQ Camaro" (get it??)
Today I received this excerpt in an email.....
..........Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner. Currently I'm in a military hospital in Germany getting treatment for schrappnel. Our convoy was ambushed two days ago, they attacked my truck. I lost a good friend of mine who was sitting directly behind me.
The Army is flying me to Walter Reed Medical Center in MD. They have to conduct more surgery............... V/R, CW2 Pat Strobel 913A, OD Armament Repair Technician
Please....keep Patrick in your prayers for a speedy recovery. He's a real Camaro guy. And he's made quite a sacrifice.

God Bless Him. He will be in my prayers tonight.
I just had a freind return home in a wheel chair, convey was ambushed and the truck landed on his legs. Very sad to him this way, he was one of the best football players we had in our school, they picked him for state. Joined the military right out of High school.
I just hope that the goverment takes care of the soldier's that do come back and the families of the ones that don't.

Gave me the chills reading the story. He's all right, I pray for the ones still there and for the families here, waiting and watching the news daily. Must be terrible for them wishing their loved ones were back home safe. They are really protecting our way of life, and sacrificing to do it.
God Bless them all.

Sounds to me that we F-body folk in the DC Metro Area need to pay Walter Reed a Visit when the time gets closer...

These types of stories should give everyone pause every day to be thankful for what we have in our country and for those who fight on foreign soil to defend it.
God Bless, Patrick. Get well quickly!

...I just came across this post, ...and as Hawkeye mentioned, ...It gave me chills. GOD BLESS the men and women who sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy in this great country of ours. And to Patrick, whom most of us probably don't know, God speed for a quick recovery and safe return home to your family...
Anybody know if there is a way to get the posts of this thread to Patrick (or his family)? I think it would be a great idea...

Tom will be talking to Patrick's wife and he's mentioning that we'd like to send cards and letters...will let everyone know details.... It is my understanding that a few operations will be needed....for various injuries including reconstructive surgery. Keep him, and all our guys and gals overseas in your prayers.

I'm glad to see that you are recovering. I wish you and your family the best and hope to see you at a future event. I would also like to personally say thank you. If it wasn't for men and women like yourself we wouldn't have this great country to call home. Take care and if you need anything at all you know where to find us.

God bless, and God speed in your recovery. This great place we call home would not be the same if not for people like you. I can not imagine the road you and your comrads have travelled, nor the losses you have endured. May God bless you for what you have done for your country and the sacrifices you have made...
