Just curious. I know they didn't produce an ungodly amount of SSs, but I see them all over the place here in Cincy, OH. Wondering if anyone else has the same effect. There alot of LT1 style Zs and such, prolly a handful LT1 style SSs, but the LS1 body I see TONS of them. Almost everyone that has a LS1 Camaro on our local boards is an SS.
So like I said, just curious. . .

In the Harrisburg Area, since I bought my car almost 2 years ago I have seen a total of 5-7 specific 98+ SS's. One is a 35th that I have seen twice but cant track him down. There are a lot of 93-97 Z28's though, that's the primary Camaro I see of the 4th generation. Posts: 2651 | From: Enola (Harrisburg Area), Pennsylvania | Registered: Jan 2002

I have a co-worker who has a 2000 SS coupe, but other than that, they are as rare as hen's teeth around here

I see quite a few Camaros of different types around here. From the V6 version all the way to the 35th Anniversary model. Including all years of the 4th generation.

When I got my 99 HOSS, I never saw another SS. Then when I got my 97 30th SS, I started seeing a few more. There afr very few around this area. Now if I go to the Virginia BEach area I could see allot more. In fact, I saw my first Firehawk in this area yesterday, 2 actually.

We had 1 other 96/97 at the SLP Picnic back in april,(75 cars) as there are only about 5k of these made, you won't see many. Think the production #'s for the 02' are what?, 11k with 3k being the LE's. I see alot more 00'+ models than the earlier ones, which is right for the production #'s. I've got the production #'s for each yr. if you want them.

We have at least 12 in our little city. I'm sure that there are probably double that number, but I have not met them yet!

I know of one in my hometown, a 96 or 97 black vert, and one here in Stockholm, a red 98 t-top. I've heard rumors that there are only five LS1 SS's in the whole country... my car included.

I would like to see the #'s for 96'/97'. It is very rare to see an LT1/SS. I LS1 everywhere.

They're not TOO rare, although you don't see too many out and about around here. There's about a half dozen or so that I've seen in the area, but there may be more hiding in garages.....but none exactly like mine. Posts: 577 | From: Aiken, SC | Registered: May 2002

There are lots around here. At the local Camaro club meets, maybe ten turn out. There are a number north of San Diego, in and around San Marcos and Poway. Down here in Chula Vista, there's a nice Arctic White 'vert, and another black SS with either a chambered exhaust or the LM. I'd have to say there are close to 30 in the area.

I am kind of surprised that only 11,000 SS' were made in 2002. I thought there would be more with it being its last year of production. Posts: 2841 | From: Westland, MI | Registered: Apr 2003

Very true Dan. I had heard though that when customers heard that the Camaro was ending, that many people were putting orders in and production couldn't keep up. Now I am wondering if that was true? Posts: 2841 | From: Westland, MI | Registered: Apr 2003

Could you break mine down for me? It's a '99 coupe, no tt's, a4, sebring silver metallic, grey leather interior, cd changer.
Also, if anybody knows; why don't I have a camaro ss badge by my asr switch? I thought all ss's had that.
While I have you all here, also how do I tell the maker of my brakes? I bought the car used and it has cross-drilled rotors. Any way to tell who made them?
Thanks John

Camaros are rare around here period... this being due to the fact that about 9 months out of the year they are literally impossible to drive. (4 feet of snow) SS's are super rare, and the only 2 i can think of ever seeing is a red convertible, and a white "fake" 3oth anniversary. It seems to be a real SS, but has silver painted ZR1 wheels and gray interior. Stripes apparently were added later.

They are fairly rare around here... There is a SOM 'vert I see in Budd Lake fairly often, and a red Firehawk that I see only when the weather is crappy

Here is Calhoun, there are 2 black, 2 red, 1 pewter, 1 Silver and one Hugger.
My wifes, 1 red and the Hugger are the only ones I'd consider an SS. The others have been ragged something awful and I can't remeber the last time I've seen them clean.

Rare here in the NW Philly suburbs. Only 3 in Harleysville (pop. 10,000+) that I know of. A lot more Firehawks than SS's, but I wave to 'em all.
If I wanted dime-a-dozen pony car, I would have bought a Rustang... OK, that's a stretch! (j/k, my Ford friends)
