....about one of our Military Guys in Iraq who had just purchased a new Tom Henry Racing Camaro.......two days after the deal was done via telephone from Iraq, Patrick and his buddies were ambushed. One of his close friends was killed instantly and Patrick sustained serious injury......since that time, several of you mentioned you'd like to send cards and letters.....
Tom Henry received the following note this morning from Pat's wife....
"Good morning Tom. This is Donna, Pat's wife.
Pat is here at Walter Reed. He is getting better everyday. Today he was actually up and walking with some crutches. He still has some hearing loss, which he will be tested today for.
I gave him the info which you had given me of his supporters. He was very touched. He will not be here very much longer at Walter Reed. They are going let him go home to finish his therapy. He is here until sometime this weekend. Here is our home address for any mail that people want to send out. Mr. Patrick Strobel 7838-B Just Cause Drive Fort Carson, CO 80913.
Thanks for everything Tom.

Guys and Gals...here is someone who has so unselfishly given of himself to defend our freedom....let's really show him that one of the BEST parts of owning a Camaro or Firebird is the FRIENDSHIPS that come with the car.
I will send this thread to his wife...but I know I have everyone in my office sending him cards......

Camaro...doesn't the name itself mean "friend?"
Sorry I can't remember the exact details Scott, maybe you can fill in what I left out?
I will send a card, and as I said on the SLP board. Thank you Patrick and thank you to all our military men and women that risk their lives so that we may live ours here at home.
And of course, Thanks to you Scott for what you've done for Patrick and all of us and thanks to GM for supporting our military.

Thanks for the cards, guys and gals....to answer the question, the name "Camaro" was one of over 2 thousand names proposed in 1965-66 for what was originally the XP-836...and later "Panther" In a Heath's French to English Dictionary dated 1935, it means "Friend, Pal, or Comrade." And, as I have said many times, I wonder if Pete Estes had any idea when he named the car "Camaro" that it would be responsible for making hundreds of thousands of friendships worldwide.....
