You guys have to remember sex sells in the 21 century. Britney is no different than Madanna was in the 80's. Also it seems the pop music is getting younger and younger. Just look at Fox with Idel. Then they have junior idel. I don't think you can get much younger than that.
My seven year old daughter see's how Britney and the other dress and protrey them selves. She enjoys the music, but doesn't want to look like them at all. She feels its inapropriate. (sorry for the spelling guys). I feel you can raise your children to see this in these new pop stars. Just look at em and em. His music is a whole nother topic.
But some young girls look at it in different ways and parents do to. All I know is they are very rich, and we work for a living. But they pay the price. Getting of soap box.

So all these 8-13 year old girls (fans of brit) see this (and they will) and think its okay to behave like this. Its one thing for consenting adults behind closed doors but this is just contributing to societies further downfall into the toilet.
Take a look around...the world is not the same one us 30 year olds grew up in....
my .02 cents.

I've seen pics of the kiss...haven't seen a video of it...but I can imagine the kiss between Sarah Michelle Gellar & Selma Blair (Cruel Intentions) was better, both for the movie, and on the VMAs.

Just think, if this thread was on the old SLP board it probably would be headed for 'you know where'.
By the way, I confess to being a Britney fan, as long as my girlfriend doesn't see this... Posts: 39 | From: Virginia | Registered: Aug 2003

Wish we put classy talented singers like Amy Grant or Vanessa Williams up on pedestals in this country instead of white trash who can't sing.
Every young female person in this country has been influenced and brainwashed to follow fashion trends led by these examples. You can't keep a pre-teen or teen from buying scanty clothes to wear to school to titillate all the boys. Every thought is titillation and sex, sex, sex.
No wonder Muslims and other religiously influenced cultures think we are from the devil and want to murder us. We worship the Idols like these gals, and they can't even sing (exception Madonna).
I think it is harder to raise young kids with these cultural influences than 10 or 20 years ago. Makes my wives work in family planning so critical to keeping these kids safe and clean until they are old enough to be having kids, because they don't wait until 13 anymore - start at 9 and 10 - really.

Vanessa Williams is a lovely woman, but how much do you remember about why she's famous?
And the clothes people now market to what they call "tweens". It probably isn't easy to find decent clothes for your nearly teen-aged girl.

"In 1983, she represented New York in the Miss America pageant and became the first African-American woman ever to be crowned the winner. Unfortunately, her triumph was short-lived. Williams had posed for a series of nude photos for Penthouse prior to her historic victory, and when the magazine published them in 1984, the ensuing scandal forced her to resign as Miss America."
why can't you leave anything you post up for more than 5 minutes before editing it? afraid you'll hurt someones feelings?
I believe it has to do with a body part that he wasn't born with.

The correct way to say that is
"I've seen it" or "I saw that"
Kevin, Thank you for correcting my grammatical error. I was unaware this message board was an English class. If you want to be technical, contractions are not used in formal writing.

Well aware of Vanessa William past. But America won't buy Christian music as role models and Vanessa has Sex appeal as well as character, proven by her years of entertainment work in various fields and private social efforts. That is the stuff we don't offer young people in Brittany or equivalent today.
When I helped the Miss America pageant organization for a few years as a fund raiser and officer on a local board, I had opportunity to chauffeur Susan Akin, Miss Georgia for a weekend. Yeah it was pretty cool, but there is so much more to these girls who earn their stripes. They do have it together up stairs if you know what I mean. I would prefer my niece or potential kids emulate that person, not Brittany. One need not be a saint to be a good example in this culture. Many, many beautiful people have started by paying their bills in this manner, but not all sagged into porn for a living.

You know, it's funny...back in the late 50's and all through the 60's, parents of teenage children were saying the same things about "rock and roll" stars. Rock music leads to dancing, dancing leads to sex, sex leads straight to Hell!
In the 70's and 80's, it was more of the same. When I was 10 years old, I bought KISS Alive II, double album. My mom almost killed over! KISS was evil. In the 80's it was Motley Crue and other glam rock bands that were role models for teens showing us the "virtues" of vices and excess.
I guess today it's still Madonna, Brit and Christina.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Think about it. My 11 year old daughter already knows that what she sees on TV is just that...made for TV. As long as parents teach there kids about what real people do, they shouldn't have to worry about what happens on the music awards shows.

Or the 30's and 40's with their swing music...
Ah, those pedestrian parents. It's nice that we're all so much more sophisticated, but-
In hindsight, do really think there was no validity at all to their concerns? Perhaps if Elvis wasn't gyrating on stage or Mick Jagger singing about spending the night together, these - well - sluts wouldn't be doing their quaint performances today (and a lot of grown men wouldn't be getting cheap thrills from them).
It's great that your daughter's doing well, but there are a lot of weaker people out there who aren't.
A lot of things have changed for the better in the last 50 years, and I realize it's a hackneyed phrase, but don't you think there really has been a(n incremental) coarsening of the culture?
No offense. Just a thought that's been kicking around in my head.

I can't believe no one has even brought this up, but I have but one word for the trashy antics of these women..... ghey. Ok, two. VERY ghey. To me, it's the same as if Eminem and Justin Timberlake played tonsil hockey. (Ok, Justin is almost a girl) But how is it any different?
Disgusting. It's their lives, but there's far too many influenced idiots out there that think this sort of stuff needs to be emulated. God save them. I wonder how many parents don't even realize their kids may have seen this drivel? Sleazy? yes. Illegal? Probably not.
I agree that sex appeal means different stuff to different folks, and although I'm far from being a country music fan, Shania Twain gives her fans what they want, she has beauty, talent, charisma, charm and she's consistent with it. Her private life remains private. That's why she's so successful. Who knows, she may well swing from the rafters dressed in rubber suit with a plunger behind the closed doors of her bedroom, but she makes sure the public doesn't mix her private life with her public life. These other ladies might want to take notes.

I wanted to say something along those lines. I dont understand society today and why they think that is something cool. Would these other thumb -up people on that brittany thing be doing the same like you said.....if football players kissed each other during the game...oh wait they do pat each other's butts. So it'd be okay if you were in Home Depot with a buddy and he finds the Anderson Window you'd be hunting for and then you pat him on the butt?????
