Sound - With the stock WS6 exhaust (same as the stock SS exhaust...no special SLP stuff), and no cats, the exhaust sounds very much like stock but with an attitude .
A Random Technology 3" Cat-Back is going on next...By the look of the "muffler" I think it will be ...umm... louder.
Hey... you Michigan guys... I'm a native Michigander too...grew up doing 1st gens w/big blocks (BIG ... big blocks) on Woodward in the '70s. I missed ya while I was there for DreamCruise!
Is it mandatory to "tune" when you install headers?
Rock
That is only with the canned HPP-3 program, both before the headers & after.
No, tuning is NOT required. However, if you were to tune.... the numbers would be greater.
I did notice , while on the dyno, that it was running a bit rich at the top end (a little bit black exhaust). This is what I expected. From what I understand, the LS1 likes to be on the shy side of 12:1 AFR to make the best power.

I'm considering ordering mine with the hi-flo cats after the BG Gathering.
Are there ANY issues with install, clearance, proximity to parts, banging, etc.

The only issue would be that on a lowered car ... the cat on the driver's side is a bit low.
My car is 1.5" to 2" lower than stock & I am running without the cats. The lowest part of the driver side pipe is about 3" from the ground. A cat would be 1/2" lower than that. Now remember, that is with my car lowered. A non-lowered car would be 1.5" to 2" more clearance.
Also, I have one customer with a convertible. He had problems with the driver side header. Apparently, the front subframe on the convertible is a bit beefier.

Install is as "bolt-on" as you're ever going to get! It's still a 10 hour job when you're laying on your back.
I highly recommend air tools .... a 3/8" drive air ratchet is almost a MUST.
You can do most of the install on a set of high ramps or on jack stands. However, the driver side requires the car to be a bit higher while sliding the header in.
Other than that..... sure, it's easy.............
If you missed Kent's posting of his install....here it is:

Can anyone who has the PPC headers provide both their minimum ground clearance AND what the ground clearance of the what the body is at, at the closest location. It will give me a real good idea of what my ground clearance would be. How does the clearance compare to other headers??? I just don't want to loose the exhaust going over a speed bump.
