...someone just told be of a '69 Camaro, white w/orange stripes, WHITE interior, ...original owner. It's my understanding that ALL '69 "pace cars" had orange interior and were verts (white top). ...THEN there are the "Z10's" White coupes, orange stripes, ..What color interior did they come with??? ...and were these all coupes? ...more importantly, how would (could you?) confirm it. (I honestly don't remember if the car my friend told me about was a vert or coupe...?) It may just be a white '69 with (owner added) orange strips, ...nothing more.
Thanks for any input...
Kevin

The "Z10" option was the Indy Pace Car Replica for a coupe. All of them that I have ever seen had the Hugger Orange Houndstooth interior and had the "Z10" RPO code on the cowl trim tag near the lower right corner.I may be wrong but thought all of the 1969 Indy Pace Car Replica convertibles had a RPO code of Z11 on the cowl tag. From what I remember.....you could order any interior w/ a Z10.....exterior colors / stripes were Dover white w/ Hugger Orange stripes.

According to the Camaro White Book an RPO Z10 Pace Car Coupe was available briefly in a limited geographical area. Appearance was similar to the Z11 Convertible, but Coupe interiors varied. Build quantity is currently uncertain.
The Z11 version were SS Rally Sport convertibles with the Code 50 Dover White exteriors, orange houndstooth cloth seats, custom interiors, orange striping, white body sills and rear panels, rally wheels, bright exhaust tips, and cowl induction hoods. Other options weren't mandatory. I could list all options but it would take too much room.

...We remember the same , ...this is precisely what I was/am trying to confirm.

A Z10 DID NOT have to have orange houndstooth interior. They were available with black standard vinyl, black comfortweave, black and white houndstooth, white standard vinyl, and white and black houndstooth. It is rumoured that SOME may have come with the orange and black houndstooth like the z11 convertible pace cars, but if they did, they would be the exception, not the norm... the convertible Z11 cars DID have to have the orange houndstooth, but the Z10s were more of an "appearance package" of the orange stripes, than they were an actual "replica" of the Indy pace car...after all, they weren't even convertibles, so they couldnt be too much of a "replica". The Z10 cars were a Southwestern Regional promotion car, and were only built in small numbers, deliveded to dealers during the approximate time of the 69 Indy 500. Dealers in Texas, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, and Arizona got most if not all of the cars. A Z10 will have "Z10" right on the body trim tag, and should have a build code on that tag of something between 04C and 05A. Just check the trim tag for the Z10 code, if its there, its the real thing. Forget about the interior, as it could have had up to 6 differnet colors/styles of interiors. Let me know what you find!-JB

This is why I posted right from the Camaro White Book about the Z-10 and Z-11 Cars. Colors varied on the interor of the Z-10 models but not the " replica " versions of the Z-11's. Posts: 2841 | From: Westland, MI | Registered: Apr 2003

...Interesting to note: The car I've been told about is in one of these states. (and I agree with/ have heard pretty much what you posted) I'll let you know what I find out (ie. Z10 code)...Thanks,
Kevin
