I felt so bad that Yoshi was gone and my 11 year old German Sheperd,Bear was not eating that I went to the Michigan Humane Society and adopted an 8 year old German Sheperd mix named Hines. She is such a great dog.Gets along with Bear and my cat and just loves to be out of that small kennel that she called home for the last month. He original owners moved and could not bring her with them. What's up with that? She had been at the Humane Society for a month and one day and probably did not have many days left without being adopted.Everyone wants a purebred puppy or a dog that is up to 2-3 years old.Hines has the energy of a 2 year old and is very playful. She sits, lays down and shakes her paw on command and listens to everything we say.She walks great and loves a ride in the Suburban! She is very loyal too. Here is a few pictures I took of Hines.I could not get her to look right at the camera.

Sounds like a great find... shes trained well. Sounds weird why her owners didn't take her with them.... She must be camera shy... but how come your wife could get her to look at the Camera? Posts: 1045 | From: Seattle, WA | Registered: Nov 2001

She looks likes she has a lot of spirit! I love it! Then again you know I'm biased to German Shepards. Good luck with her. She has a good home.

That is because I clicked my fingers above my head and got Hines attention. When I took these pictures yesterday,we did not even have her for 24 hours yet.She is adapting very quickly to us,Bear and the cat. Posts: 5682 | From: Dearborn,Mi. | Registered: Feb 2002

Thanks Teri! My mind has been on Yoshi a lot.I sure hope he is in good hands.I never gave any animal away before and learned a valuable lesson on screening the people before giving them the animal.

My thoughts exactly! A animal in my house is a family member and they would be moving with me to a new home.
Hines is the BEST old/new dog I have ever owned.I have not found any faults with her. She really calls my house home now. Posts: 5682 | From: Dearborn,Mi. | Registered: Feb 2002

I know why Hines (Heinz) - probably 57 varieties in her
I may be able to make it on Thursday now! Yee Haw!
I thought about that too but she appears to have mostly German Sheperd in her. When you meet her you will love Hines! I know Ryan is taking the SS S-10 to the track.I will be there and hope to bring the SS but don't want to get it too dirty since I will be driving it to Northeast Ohio this Friday. We got ours from a person that breeds show dogs.. our were the rejects but not to us.. its amazing how they become part of the family.
I have heard of breaders that destroy the dogs that are not perfect show dogs. What kind of dogs are yours? They do look like they love to be with your family. Posts: 5682 | From: Dearborn,Mi. | Registered: Feb 2002

Well the bigger dog is Athena, she is an ex show dog but was too "bouncy".. Stryder is her nephew (sisters dog).. They are both Whippets which are a smaller version of Greyhounds (~30lbs).. fastest dogs in the neighborhood
Oh yea, they have the cushy easy life here.. they sleep on a electric blanket!!
Yes, its a shame what some breaders do with thier dogs Posts: 228 | From: Corona, CA | Registered: Oct 2000
