1997 Camaro SS #2681 My car has sat since November 26th since I broke my output shaft for the 2nd time on my 2nd transmission. I have since tore absolutely EVERYTHING apart again for another upgrade. Details of my motor modifications will follow as I make progress. My previous setup on my car was as follows:
Stage II LT4 heads w/ port matched intake CC306 Cam McLeod Street Twin Moser 12 bolt w/ 3.73s MSD Digital 6 Jus to name the big stuff. The car only managed a slow 12.5 @ 114.12mph. Problem was, I was running open headers and the 02s saw ambient air and thought I had a lean condition and it falsely tried correcting itself making the car run completely unpredictable. Not too mention I blew drivetrain components apart like it was my job. I only ran it at the track once and made only 7 passes on 3K rpms dumps until my 5500rpm dump and I destroyed another output shaft. This problem will be completely rectified in my new setup, which will describe as I go. Any Q's, do ask.
First, after the car sat under a car cover for a year and it finally gets a garage spot, we establish that its dirty. Some rubber I left sit on the car for over a year, BAD MISTAKE!! Some year old rubber that fell off my car Posts: 47 | From: Cincy | Registered: May 2003

BTW, I washed underneath the car as well since running open headers made it REDICULOUSLY dirty.
After I wash the car I began to strip it down for a super detail. I clay barred every single nook and cranny of the car to no end. Every painted surface, literally, was clay barred and Zaino'ed.
Remove Door sills Remove spoiler Remove tail lights But alas whats this?!?! Thats just not going to happen, rear fascia removal time. My thats dirty, but clean now Posts: 47 | From: Cincy | Registered: May 2003

Removed the black T top piece and Zaino'ed under that Since I'm not going to see the bottom of the spoiler, oh say, NEVER. I'll give it a bunch of coats of Zaino for long lasting protection. BTW, I did the same to the hatch before I put the spoiler back on. The camera doesn't show depth in silver very well, but I have about 10 layers on it and it is freaking unreal.
Now onto the interior. Needs a good shampooing. . . B-bye interior It appears the previous owner of my car enjoyed his capicino in his back seat more than he did in his stomach. Hard to see, but its underneath the rear buckets. Here I am boiling water. . . What? I take steam cleaning very seriously Posts: 47 | From: Cincy | Registered: May 2003

Something I shoulda removed when I first bought the car :oh:
Anyone see a problem with this? Well I keep ya from guessing, my moser 12 bolt had some pathetically weak welds on the tubing to the housing, so I had my buddy Tracey reweld them with some thick ass beads. Hmmm, it appears welding debris + rear end fluid = fire Oh well, looks cool Posts: 47 | From: Cincy | Registered: May 2003

The new welds, YAY But the rear end is rusty, tisk on me for not painting it when I got it oh well, sandblasters do wonders I'm still in the process of painting my rear end, will have pics soon, but It'll be the same color as the engine.
Since I'm modifying to go faster, I'm gonna need to stop a lil faster. Time for bigger brakes, LS1 Brakes that is (Left LS1) Bottom LS1 Right LS1
This is the big bad mofo' I nicknamed "Satan" thats like to not slip AT ALL and break everything in its path. The McLeod Street Twin with aluminum flywheel. Posts: 47 | From: Cincy | Registered: May 2003

Since it kept breaking ****, I followed in the footsteps of Taner Bonsali who has the fastest 6 speed Fbody in the world. 9.60s. I talked to him and bought a new output shaft for my 97 tranny and all the parts in it were still good so I sent them ALL off to be cryogenically treated (deep freezing process that strengthens metals better than heat treating). I was currently reassembling the tranny as the pic depics.
This is what my engine will hopefully look like again. This is what it looked like last year. Other various parts of the car will be accented in this color. It will be tastefully done, not ricely done
Thats all the pics I have for now. My mods list it WAY too long to list right now, but I will post it as I install them, if not when the car is complete.
So since my car won't be at BG, I'd figure I share with you all. Sorry Admin for the long huge post, I'll be using my website for future updates, rest assured. . . Posts: 47 | From: Cincy | Registered: May 2003
