Just wondering how that's coming along, and does it look like it'll be done in time so you'll be able to bring your SS to BG?

Just walked in the door a few minutes ago from picking the car up. Feels great to have the car back. The transmission works great, no grinding at all. Although I did not get into the pedal that much I could tell it was much better. Dealer even followed request not to wash the car. ( shop rags..bad...bad..) They replaced 16 parts according to the invoice. ( good thing we bought the extended warranty.) Several bearings, 2nd gear and syncro and numorous rings.

P/N 12523073 bearing, 12523190 2n gear, 2 of 12523198 washer, 12453259 cone asm, 12523195 conetra, 2 of 88894078 ring, 12523191 syncro, 12523187 ring tra, 12523188 bearing, 12523201 gear, 12523286 bearing, 12523057 bearing, 12523186 ring syn, 15206288 cylender.

(I have no idea what all of these are)
Not sure what this would have cost if it was not covered under the warranty but for once I'm glad I bought the extended plan.

Now for the rest of the story. The dealer that did the work was not a Chevrolet dealership. After seeing the local Chevy dealerships and talking to customers I found that the service work from even our local dealer was not very well liked. I ended up taking it to a Buick Dealership that was recomended to me as having very good service techs.

All said I'm very pleased with the repair, although the parts chase added some excitement to the event, ( again thanks to all who replied to my other post, you guys are great...)

So now I'm up for several hours of cleanig the car tonight and have new tire installed tomorrow. Then we will be ready for the trip to BG. Can't wait to hook up with all of you,

A complete, new 99-02 6-speed for use with Hurst shifter (DXA) - $3992.86
98-02 MM6 Except Hurst shifter (DAX)- $3992.86

I wasn't aware GM dealers serviced the T56s [Confused] Hence why I had to learn on my own [Wink]

BTW, just for reference you can get all those parts for HALF that cost from D&D performance, but I STRONGLY recommend no letting them perform the labor on your tranny though [Mad]

congrats on gettin the car on the road again! [Smile]
a local dealer was nice enough to print out all the times my car was at any dealers since it was sold to the first owner in winter of 98(its a 1999), turned out to be 5 pages...lol. at round 14k miles the trannie was replaces, then couple thousand down the road, rear axels were also replaces. there wasnt any notes to why, but was just happy i didnt get a lemon trannie. i agree, wont let the dealers touch my trannie tho, only the local garage shop near me. theyre good techs [Smile]

Glad to hear the SS is out and about again. I know yo uare realy going to enjoy and were probably going through withdrawal not being able to cruise. [Big Grin]

we sure were. Although we have spent most of the past 2 days cleaning it!
