The latest I have heard is they are still not sure where it will hit but they are saying North Carolina is the most likely spot. If it comes straight in off the Ocean it can create some serious havoc. When Hurricane Hugo did that, it left damage as far inland as the North Carolina Mountains. Some people here in Charlotte were without power for weeks. I don't know if that will happen again so all we are doing is making sure we have the essentials and trying to be prepared for any extended power outages if they occur. If you live along the coast, things will be much worse in all likelihood.
In the end, I certainly hope the thing gets pushed northward and out to sea before in can cause any damage.

As far as I know the latest was it drifting towards the west with 160 mph winds and staying south of the Bahamas. When I was watching the weather it looked as if it was heading towards Florida but it is just a guess. Hopefully it will do a quick U-Turn and head out to sea.

I also am watching the path of Isabel, we had a hurricane come right over us just a few years ago, Fran. It really made a mess out of Cary. Some of the damage still isn't repaired. We were without electricity for 14 days and over 2000 homes in Wake County were totally destroyed.
Plus there's the Bowling Green trip. If the Tuesday night weather forecast has it coming towards North Carolina the Bowling Green trip will be cancelled.

Well if it continues following this path, looks like I'll have to cancel our BG plans. No way will I leave the pets in critter camp even though they are quite good there. I hope it start turning very quickly

...I started my plans for this storm last week...tested the generator, stocked up on fuel, pulled out the tarps and plastic sheeting, changed the flashlight and radio batteries, got all the important papers and photos together, took pictures of everything in the house for insurance purposes, got a couple grand in cash and made a list of what we need to take if we have to evacuate. Luckily, we have hurricane shutters on the house so I don’t have to mess with boarding up windows and can secure all the windows and doors in about 10 minutes. Even though they say Isabel will probably miss us here, after living on the beach for pretty much most my life I have seen hurricanes do pretty much anything and everything...the only thing you can say for certain about a hurricane is that they are unpredictable, and all the current models are based on certain conditions that could change at any time. And you know what they say about Mother Nature. I would suggest that anyone who lives in an area that could be impacted by this storm keep an eye on the advisories and not wait until the last minute to make preparations. During the evacuations for Hurricane Floyd here thousands of people were trapped on the highways because they waited to long to heed the evacuation orders.
This storm is surely not one to take lightly…

Well, we'll be in BG for it, either way. I was stationed in Charelston, SC in the Navy when Hugo hit. My brick home was literally shaking! OUCH!!! I never want to do that again. The devistation was absolutely horrible. It was months before some areas around there got electricity again. And when I worked for Flordia Power & Light at Turkey Point nuclear station, every day I went to work, I saw the remnants of what Andrew did to Homestead. They were still rebuilding or completely abandoning stuff down there. It wasn't a pretty sight. I hate hurricanes. Here's praying it turns up and out and either diminishes greatly or misses N. America altogether.
