Well its over. The storm has passed. I hope everyone made it through ok. As of right now, I have no power, been running off a generator all day. The 90 % of the city is without power. I lost about 3 sq/ft of 200 year old slate roof. I thought I was going to lose more, I could here last night was those slates slapping the sheathing. When we lost power, I lost my sump, and had about 1.5 inches of water in the basement. When I got the generator going this morning it dried it right out. Had water being blown in under the siding and now the dining room ceiling and exterior wall wil have to be replastered. Lost a very large Beach tree, to big for me to cut, it the back yard. Now saying all of that, we got off light. There are many people in a 2 block radius how got hit real hard. Trees falling on their cars and through their roofs. Entire outbuildings demolished. Now the part that is really starting to sux, my entire street has power, but me, my rental and the old lady across the street. The power guys told her it would be about a week b4 they start work on the individual houses. This does not make any sense to me. Niether of our lines are down, They appear to be attached at the pole. My lines are buried so no tress could have taken them down. Oh well, we are still alive, that's what matters.

Doug, glad to hear you made it out with minimal major damage. It sounds like you had some structural damage, but I bet the power being out is the most annoying of all. Been there too many times.
Glad to hear you and the family are doing great, and apparently the 30th is ok too.

See you soon hopefully, maybe in NJ.

Won't be able to make SLP this year. Just to let you know there is a bright blue 98-99 SS for sale up here it is very sweet looking and he has it priced at $7995. I have not looked at real close, if you want I will. Also Super chevy show is the 1 weekend of Oct. Yeah, the SS came out in good shape

Sorry to hear about all your problems.......have been watching the pictures on TV and the devastation is terrible. I hope you can get things back in order as soon as possible.

No, I have not had the chance to get the TV going. I hope to have the generator going most of today. If so, I will watch some tv. I had to wait in line over 3 hours to get gas last night. I talk to a couple of Va Dominion guy this morning. Its not looking good. Petersbur looks like a war so, so I would hate to imagine what the rest of the state looks like, especially the coast line.

Sure glad you are safe and things are not as bad as could have been. We have fiends in the club who live near VA Beach and have been trying to get in touch with them today to see if they are OK

Wow, sorry to hear what you went through, but we all know it could have been worse, MUCh worse. WOuld hard to comprehend the devastation if it were a CAT 5 Hurricane! We just got a lot of wind here in the Harrisburg area and 200,000 people without power here. I've also been looking at video footage and pictures of what's left on the coast and the Outer Banks, and it's hard to beleive! I have a friend who is supposed to go down to the Outer Banks on Sunday. Prolly still going to be a ghost town if they even go.
BTW vargod, let me know the condition of that SS. Seems pretty cheap. Thanks, and take care down there.

Glad you made it through, OK...
The engineering firm I work for has it's home office just a bit north of you in Richmond (just off the Midlothian Tnpk. in Morefield Commons). They dropped off the company network about 2PM on Thursday and were w/o power until this morning (Sat). No damage to their office (which they just relocated to three weeks ago), but several trees down in other areas of their complex.

Ironically (to this thread anyway), we also have an office in Harrisburg, but so far as I know, they never lost power.
