Finally got my Camaro calendars last week. There were made by Scott Sutton from FL. The cover is a picture of all the Camaros on the MIS track in July. My SS is on for January.

I like the '69 H/O. I wonder if it's a clone... Only two were built as convertibles. One was given to Miss Hurst, Linda Vaughn. The other... ??... who knows.

Actually, according to Doc Watson, the inventor of the H/O, there were three, and possibly as many as five convertibles for '69. One got smooshed flying around a track very early on. One was given to Miss Vaughn, and George Hurst himself kept one. His had a custom ashtray assembly built into the driver's door for his beloved cigars. For those who don't know, if you even care, it's the last car in the second row of the calander we're talking about. I can't hardly tell because the pic is so small, but it appears that it doesn't have the correct outside mirrors and the wheels look wrong. But I'll check later when I see the calendar. The Linda Vaughn car is in pretty poor shape last time anyone saw it, and there was one that kept showing up at H/O nationals with a dubious past. The owner kept covering his VIN on the dash with the car show name tags, yet Hurst Performance listed as the owner on the protect-o-plate (remember those?) he had out...hmmm. Still don't know if that plate matched that car. I have '69 H/O #43, but it's a hardtop.
Total was a hair over 900 made, with all but those few convertibles made as holiday coupes. Hurst obviously couldn't crank out the numbers back then like SLP could in later years, and there were no additional Hurst options either. All cars got the same treatment. Only two decals were applied, the "H/O 455" on the hood scoop and the "Hurst Olds" decal on the glovebox. Stripes were painted on and only one guy applied the accent pinstripes on ~all~ the 68 and 69 cars. (total of about 1400 cars at $25 a pop.)

Thanks for the heads up on the Car and Driver calendar. It took three tries to strike paydirt, and I purchased the last two on the rack at at an office supply store here in McKinney, Texas. One copy goes in the trunk of the SS in the shrink wrap, and the other goes to a graphics place to be blown up, framed and hung on the wall.
Again... thanks.
