The folks responsible for the original Cobra are back at the table together. Also, there's a blurb in here about how Shelby is going to be consulting with the Ford Performance Group. I really, really hope GM is up for a challenge and not just willing to give this market to Ford.

That's a good move for him, AC cars, and Ford.
As for GM, there is no Shelby equivalent. They have had there alliances, such as with SLP, but the only feathers in GM's cap have been short lived with guys like Penske, Callaway, and a whole variety of racers. I suppose if GM wanted to they could rekindle their alliances but to have a really big meaningfull program they need more performance cars.
