I'm considering starting to buy the parts to do heads and cam after I install the PPC headers. I'd appreciate any info and recommendations about parts, suppliers, performance, tuning, etc.
Thanks!!!

I went with the MTI stage 2 heads, and the LPE GT1 cam, and am very happy with them. For the tuning, use LS1 edit, but you will need to take it to someone who is familiar with tuning to get that done.

I went with Stage 2 6.0l heads from Total Engine Airflow and Thunder Racing TR224 cam. This seems to be a good combo and you will have the LS6 intake and headers so that will also help..
For tuning I used Diablo Sport Predator and let someone else write custom tunes for my car..
I guess for choosing which heads and cam to buy you have to ask yourself the question of how you intend to use that power and where do you want your power band... then you can decide which cam specs you want...

Kevin: Curtis has asked the $64,000 question, and I believe that he has hit the nail on the head, IMHO. Everybody and their mother will give you a glowing recommendation based on their own combo, probably without specifying how it is used, what their expectations were and whether or not the combo lived up to those expectations in day-to-day driving. That being said, here are a few questions I would be asking myself if I were in your position: 1)Will I continue to drive the car on a daily basis, or do I want to use the car as a "track-only" vehicle? 2)Is having the ability to drive my car comfortably on the street, after the heads & cam pkg. has been installed, a definite priority? 2)Does Kentucky have a regularly scheduled program for "Vehicles Emissions Testing"? If so, you're gonna have to deal with the question of whether or not to run cats. 3)How do you use your car? (street, strip, road course, autoX) To quote Curtis, once again, where do you want the power to be produced? Up high or down low? 4)You have 4.10s. This could be an issue because I'm guessing that should your goal be in the area of 400 RWHP, you're gonna want to back down to 3.73s (or get a Moser 12 bolt!) 4.10s could pose a huge problem with a stock 10 bolt at that power level. Here is my scenario - take it for what you feel it's worth: - a very modest head porting job and a mild cam - 369 RWHP and the car is a complete joy to drive on the street - with 4.10s (yes, I drag race the car, but I DO NOT run a tire!!) The bottom line is that the power band is set up for a road course application. The motor continues to make horsepower right up to 6500 rpm, in contrast to a stock LS1, which tends to fall off at 5300-5400 rpm. I have 346 lb-ft torque. No big deal, but with the 4.10s... how much more could I possibly make use of?!? Please try to find someone who will talk to you about your requirements. That person needs to listen to you, rather than tell you what you need. I was fortunate enough to have been able to go thru this process with Agostino Racing Engines in Pickering, ON. I'm sure there are other tuners who can work with you on this basis - again, please verify that they have the ability to do a custom tune on your PCM, once all your mods have been done> Good luck and have a ton of fun with achieving your goals!!
