All of the cam swap info I've read says that you can re-use the stock original lifters with a new cam, push rods, springs and retaners. I've always thought it was important to replace the lifters when installing a new cam...what say you oh Fbody experts?

Why not replace everything at the same time? Lifters, pushrods, springs and retainers aren't that expensive.

Before roller lifters were common, the lifter spun on the camshaft lobe, making the lobe/lifter seat an important match - new lifters could be used with an old cam, but a new cam required new lifters to seat properly.
The lifters in LS1's are roller lifters and dont spin, so replacement less important.
But I agree, why not replace em anyway
