Anyone seen it? ...I'm in upstate NY and last night around 6-9pm, ...awsome!!!! Only the 2nd time I've ever witnessed it, ...very very cool The sky was filled with a redish hue, white streaks, ...really neat. Here's an MSN new link on the "northern lights", ...scroll down (quite a ways) in the article.

I have seen them before while at my uncle's house in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan.Up there in the summer it gets dark out around 10:30pm or so and you can see many more stars due to no city lights.

Wish it was dark enough around here soo see something like that. I enjoyed watching Mars, haven't ever seen 'northern lights' yet.
Any special ways you took the pics? I'd be interested to know. My dad has a professional Canon Camera (A1 i beleive)

The funny thing is that I forgot my tripod... I ended up using a rickety folding table and an eyepiece case to prop up the camera.... I was surprised as hell that they actually turned out OK.

I've been to Alaska in the winter many, many times, but not once was there ever a light show happening during my visits.
Steve and I drove 25 miles west away from the city lights on Halloween night. It was clear and cold though and the Milky Way looked pretty neat, but didn't see the Aurora. Posts: 7198 | From: Near Portland, Oregon, USA | Registered: Feb 2000
