I'm considering replacing the shift knob in my SS. Anyone know where GMMG gets the black shift knobs they place in their specialty cars? Thanks.

They're the Hurst 'classic' six speed knob. They come in white or black.

I bought one of these Hurst 6 Speed knobs but the threads do not match up with those on Lou's Short Stick! Any ideas? I thought Lou used the same threading as the stock shifter.

Only assumption I can make is you have the wrong short stick? The new knob should be same thread as a stock knob etc...

Thanks Raggs and Ttopss. How does the hurst handle hot/cold weather? I'm leaning towards it now. I have an aluminum knob on my iroc and it isn't very weather friendly. Scott98ss370, I remember when I ordered my LSS, there were 2 options for thread pattern. Maybe you didn't get the stock thread pattern. Just a thought.

I'll check my records to see what LSS I got (ie. threads) as well as the Hurst knob. I do have the (factory optional) Hurst shifter in my car, ...and the Hurst knob did fit the LSS as well. As for cold, ...it may be a bit colder than the stock/Hurst knob when it's cold out, ...but with the stainless LSS and the black knob, ...you defintely have that nostalgic muscle car look and feel. I'll try to post a pic as well, ...tonight.
Kevin
DaddySS, ...do you have a shot of it in your archives?

Did you ever get a chance to see what threads you got when you ordered? Thanks!

Thanks RagSS! I'm getting it before the holidays. Mark IXZD 150, I'll have to order up one of those cool looking plates after I get a couple of serious mods.

I have the white Hurst Classic knob. One thing you might consider is if you wrap your two fingers under the knob to pull back that hex jam nut can cut up the insides of your fingers. To cure this I took some blue loctite and removed the jam nut, the loctite keeps it from turning. If you later need to remove the knob use one of those rubber jar openers.
