I saw an article on these devices. I think they are only available in the UK right now, but is anyone familiar with them? They looked pretty cool...some provided an image (like an airport radar) of surrounding vehicles. Any thoughts on the potential of these devices? The V1 has served me well so far...

Not doubting what you saw, but GPS can NOT give you any sort of "real time" image of the vehicles around you. What they could do (and from what I can find on the net they are) is to include a GPS receiver in the unit and a database of known photo or fixed radar sites, and alert you when you are approaching one. Does sound like a cool idea. If you're gonna stick a detector on your windshield, why not have it tell you where you are too.
