Morning all ........... here we go again ........ at least it's a short week ........... have a great one
The picture of the day ............... I just read of the death of Leroy Goldstein .............. the "Israeli Rocket" is gone ............. it was quoted that he died after a long illness
Leroy was an excellent fuel dragster and funny car driver .............. first with his own equipment (picture 1 below) and then in 1970 he went to drive the car that made him famous ............The Ramchargers funny car (picture 2 below) ............ he also drove the Ramcharger's Top Fuel Dragster
We'll not forget you Leroy ............ ride on "Rocket"

I switched the chromes for the steel rims with the Blizzaks Sunday. This means I wont drive her starting the day of the first snowfall.. . probably within the next 2 weeks. Last year, the day before Thanksgiving, we got 7 inches of snow. All I have left to do is wash, clay bar, and zaino the car then the car cover will go on for a long time (March-April)
Old Coyote, Have a question for ya - How did you get to know all these awesome racers? My dad still laughs at that fuel dump you did ove the occupied drive-in theatre Posts: 694 | From: Newport, RI (Middletown Technically) | Registered: Feb 2000

I just met a lot of wonderful people in the nearly ten years I raced ............ many helped me when I had problems, and Lord knows I grabbed a wrench to help out others ............ including a couple of times I helped a competitor get his car ready between rounds ......... and then he outran me .............. that's what it all used to be about ..... friendships, not money
And hey, when ya gotta take a "dump", you gotta take a dump ............... guess we'll never live that one down

Teri ............. I don't know that much about Steve McGee ........... He ran out of Division 6 (the great Northwest) and we only made one trip up to that area .............. I was at a couple of events where he also competed, but I never got to meet him ............. I've included a couple of pictures .......... one of his AA/GS Willys and one of his BB/FC Monza
Just Curious ............ was he the man responsible for the McGee Quad-Cam fuel engine that some of the racers tried in the '70's ? EDIT: Nope, answered my own question ........ That was Hedley McGee that developed the Quad Cam

My Steve (Heino) started working for Steve McGee in 1996 and we bought the business (McGee's Auto Electric, now known as McGee's Auto Service, LLC) in 1999 when McGee was ready to retire/move to eastern Oregon. McGee and his wife now run the Rainbow Cafe (excellent food, by the way) in Pendleton, Oregon. He made the transition from Auto Electric & Repair to Restauranteur very easily.
The weekend that McGee hired Steve (Heino) we had the pleasure of seeing McGee run a record time at Woodburn, Oregon (7.6 seems to be what's in my memory.....Steve (Heino) can confirm).
Interesting what a small world this is. (Sorry for hijacking the good morning thread!)
