What did you do this weekend? On Friday night I cut and installed all of the base board mouldings in my daughter's old bedroom. The weekend before I ripped out the carpet and installed a cherry wood floor. Now I have a trophy room! On Saturday I helped the wife paint the main bathroom. She kept complaining of a oil smell in her car when she used the heater.I had suspected a valve cover leak on the Cadillac since I saw oil on the right exhaust manifold heat sheild. To get the valve covers off I had to remove the upper and lower intake manifold.Sure enough, the right valve cover was leaking where the head was machined for the camshaft. This baby Northstar engine is sure one complicated package. The intake valves are very clean with no carbon build up even with just under 92,000 miles.Strange looking GM spark plugs with 3 electrodes too. On Sunday I cleaned out both garages and helped the son install a Hooker mandrel bent dual exhaust system on the Suburban. All of this work with and I have one bad cold thanks to the ediot at work that constantly coughs without putting a napkin or his hands in front of his mouth.I feel really run down right now!

The Cadillac engine is one nice piece of machinery isn't it? At least it isn't tucked way up under the body like our LS1 engines. Otherewise that probably would have been a lot tougher than it was.
Hope you feel better soon.

Actually the back of the engine is under the cowl.I had to replace the hot water valve for the heater this year and boy way that fun to get at with the intake manifolds on.You really can't see the water valve in this picture.

Lately the boy has had an attitude against me when I ask him to do something.....Heck he does not even pay room and board and is driving my Suburban too! I think he needs a reality check soon!
