SLP is now selling the paper elements for fifty bucks! Has anyone found an alternate source? I checked out the Donaldson website but they don't offer it direct.

Damn that's gay, I'm glad I bought them when they were selling 3 for like $70.
I also noticed they raised the price of the airlid boot connector... that part seems to be a known weak link in the OEM airlid.
They sure do know how to treat their customers, don't they.
Since I'm not there anymore, I don't know the answers. However, my guess is that they are now buying smaller quantities from their suppliers and the result is higher cost to them which they have to pass on to their customers. That's a fact of life and business. No more f-cars being made, less demand for parts, higher operating costs.

if anyone calls them, I would make sure its a paper filter, and not an oiled one. I know SLP PP was talking to Donaldson about doing an oiled Blackwing filter for Fcars.
In the meantime, I'm glad I got my replacement Donaldsons already @ 3/$70

I notice that this is listed for 2000-2002: did they make one for the 98-99's?

Jeff, I understand what you saying... and while the price increase in the boot connector may be reasonable, you have to admit that the increase in the filter price isn't.
Maybe they made a mistake when logging it in...sure hope so cause they will have a lot of filters sitting around collecting dust at that price.

Interesting, two different part numbers.... I bet the $112 part is just the lid and not the plumbing for the airpump hose. Also wonder if part #11030 includes a filter.

its not impossible they posted the wrong price either... that is pretty steep. ask them, and tell them it was alot less from Michigan.
Good idea. I also bought the 3-pak last year for $70 so I have some time...
The CAI sure seems to get them dirty quickly!
I wonder how much HP gain the Donaldson has over the OEM filter. Anyone?
I did a dyno test with the GM OEM airlid and filter vs the SLP OEM Blackwing Airlid way back in December if 2001 as the first 130 or so 2002 Firehawks did not come with the lid installed from SLP so I had to order the OEM lid and install it.
Safe to say after dynoin wht the GM lid/air filter giving me 300 hp and 318 Ft-Lbs of torque... while the car was strapped to the dyno, I put on the SLP OEM Blackwing with Balckiwng paper filter that goes with the lid... I pulled 307 hp and 325 Ft-Lbs of torque... This was done on back to back runs, on ont same day in the same environmental conditions...
Safe to say, I think this is the most objective, impatial test between GM vs SLP air intake System.. Note that I did not test the airflow of the actual filters themselves on the same airlid ... with all my long worded jargon said ... I made 8hp/7Ft-Lbs of torque gain on the SLP Lid/airfilter vs GM's Lid/airfilter.
chris.. let us know what the correct price is.. I didn't get in on the cheap fiter deal Doh!!!

FWIW, they do show the airpump hose in the picture as well as the other connector and clamps. Also, they do refer to it as an assembly and I would think that implies the hoses and connectors are included, probably not the filter.

Check out Amsoils Website on their related products and filters...With the 0-30W Racing Oil, Trans Fluid, Rear End Fluid and of course the two stage air filter, would you believe twelve additional HP and ten pounds of torque.
quote:Originally posted by Midlife CrisiSS: Does anyone know of any alternate sources for the filter?
Any quantifable data on the Amsoil filter?
Other reasonably well flowing paper elements?

May be because of costs. Auto manufactures have been known to cut costs in lieu of performance.
