If you're wanting to buy brand-new GM wheels to stash away for later years for your LE, 12498899 is the part number. When I saw the part costs nearly $600 on gmpartsdirect, it was EACH. It called it a wheel kit. I've seen those "kits" before, and the kit was one wheel and one valve stem. Ouch. A bit pricey for one wheel, don't you think?
However.....I checked it out, it is NOT just that, the "kit" is actually four brand new GM 35th LE wheels with center caps included. With shipping, the wheels come out to $175.55 each. That's really not that bad, considering I've seen used sets go for a bit more than that.
12498900, the regular production SS wheel set of 4, with caps, can be delivered for $596.40, which comes out to $149.10 per wheel total. But if you were wanting SS wheels in general, right now I'd go the SLP online route and buy part number 80090 for 4 takeoff wheels/caps. Total delivered is $459 on special ($200 off regular price) Comes out to a little over 114 per wheel that way. That's a pretty good deal for GM SS rims. Considering the regular SS wheel (one)9592881 lists for $547.95!!!
So if you were looking for some SS or LE wheels, stop by gmpartsdirect.com and order you up some.

Thanks for the info, el ess1 !! .... are you certain the wheel kit listed is for 35th le's, the description at gmpartsdirect is vague, (i.e., how did you find the part #?) THanks again! I would hate to order a set and then have to pay to ship them back

Directly from Pace performance parts (www.paceparts.com) and also on page 4 of the 2003 catalog. I'm gathering that when it says you can buy a set complete with center caps that tells me it's 4 of them. Their "set" better not be 2, that would suck. But I guess stranger things have happened. Go here and see where someone has bought this set. linky
Here's the description in the literature.....
"You've seen them on the Camaro "SS" and now you can purchase them as a set complete with center caps. These are "brand new" and direct from GM Performance with a look and a price you will love. (50mm offset)"

Well if thats true that sucks! I ponied up the big bucks and bought a set for a few $$. I even had one of my dealers sell them to me at cost and it was still spendy... I will have to check on it to see if that is a good #. Typically GM may call it a wheel kit but its not. My 35th LE rims on the part label say wheel kit but they didn't include anything... valve stem, center caps and lug covers were a-la cart. I have never seen GM sell a wheel "kit" that includes everything... FYI.

I've never seen them sell "kits" either except maybe it came with a gasket or some other small piece. I remember buying a mid-80s brake master cylinder cover "kit" and it was just the lid. It USED to come with the rubber gasket. Somewhere along the line they separated them, but never changed the name on the cover. I guess the second piece was the wrapper...
As far as the wheels, I'm pretty sure this seems legit. It may be that they've got an abundance of these wheels perhaps and are trying to do a clearance thing on them similar to SLP and some of their SS stuff? (example: $25 SS chrome ZR-1 center cap is now $8.50) I dunno.

Don't know, you'll have to ask SLPPP. I'm pretty sure they're the only ones that provide the chrome 10 spokes, although they make them available through other retailers besides SLP. I couldn't find any reference on the chrome 10 spokes through GM.
And Camaro_Woody, yes the 35th LE wheels are the machine finished edged 10 spokes with the black paint.
