...ahhhh, the cold front has finally passed us too. The temps plunged into the 60's this past weekend with a nasty northeast wind, but the tradewinds are blowing once again from the southwest and the 70's have returned...

The picture of the day ................ Once upon a time the NHRA had the "Ongais" rule, stemming from a incident in 1964 where Danny Ongais had to push his car across the finish line to record the win ............ the rule stated that the car MUST cross the finish line for a victory ............ this ludicrous and ill conceived rule came to an abrupt halt at the '68 Hot Rod Magazine Championships at Riverside ........ the picture shows Walt Stevens (far lane) who was driving Dick Lins AA/FD and Bill Dunlap in Jon Halsteads car literally racing on foot pushing their respective cars ............. to make a long story short, Walt had Bill beaten until he collapsed right before the finish line and nearly died from exhaustion ............. after this fiasco, the rule was canned -- like it ever should have been put in place to begin with

grumph!!! I am beginning to hate winter... even more... had to turn on my manual traction control on the 78 Grand LeMans ... 240 lbs of tube-sand in the trunk this am ... down 3 flights of stairs ...
and think I could still be in FL if they only had SW Eng/dev types of jobs in NW FLorida.. might look at NASA to see if I can transfer to them... all so I can borrow kahuna's boards in Feburary's on the weekends

Yesterday was nice in Ottawa too. But over night the snow came back and today the deep deep freeze is making a return.
Wife drove back to Oakville yesterday. She saw a number of SUVs and trucks upside down in the ditch (from Sunday's storm). She also had to detour off the highway at one point due to a flipped semi with seveal cars/ trucks piled into it. Sounds like she had an "interesting" drive.
