Wow, what a horrible day I had today. Get a load of this.....
First, was running late to class at PSU and was parking on the campus when i see those red and blue lights flashing. Sure enough, after I parked. Campus police came right up beside me and she basically stated how she clocked me going 40 in a 25mph. Only got a warning but I was 15 minutes late to class, and I HATE being late. This was the first time I was EVER pulled over by a cop, and yes, i'm 22 with a Camaro SS.
Secondly, I guess i was all flustered after the cop pulled away, as I ended up locking my keys in the car. DIdn't realize this until after class and was walking to my car; mind you, it was 15 degrees out with a sharp wind. Parents wouldnt come drop my 2nd pair of keys off, so I ended up calling AAA (damn I wish our Camaros came with OnStar!!!.....5th gens, hmmm) AAA came in 20 minutes, opened it in less than a minute....used what looked to be a old style blood pressure pump you wrap around your arm, between the side window glass and pryed the glass open a bit and reached in with a metal hook and opened the lock.
THEN, that made me 45 mintues late to another class this evening!!!(did I mention how I HATE to be late???) FINALLY, got home, its snowing, and after I parked on the street (dead end street where i live) a snow plow came by flinging salt everywhere and came within 2-3 feet of my car and got the side nice and sandblasted. Dunno if it left any chips as I didn't go back out.
So yeah, what a friggin crappy day!! Just had to vent, you guys (and gals) are good listeners. Only bright side is I starting dating someone! Here's hoping tomorrow will be a better day......

Dan sorry to hear about the bad day and I know about those salt trucks with that thing that slings salt. I know your car is a 2001 and I take it the keys was not in the switch. My 2001 will not lock the drivers door with the keys in the switch even if you try.

Yeah, the keys were in the center cupholder. And I have a habit of locking the doors with switch on the drivers door. Gonna put tape over that tomorrow to break my habit, and use the remote instead.

As far as the keys being locked in,some cars have a anti lock out feature that senses the keys in the ignition and when the power lock switch is used to lock the doors, they will unlock. My wife's Cadillac has that feature.Camaro power door locks are programmable I believe...at least I think I remember reading that in the owners manual.Maybe they also have this feature. I think Gino had something to do with all this.

Sounds like a Slim Jim. About 9 years ago, I went shopping at COSTCO & put my keys in my coat pocket, then decided to leave my coat in the car. I quickly tossed it into the trunk and shut the deck lid....DOH! Why is it, the exact second you hear that lock click, your brain engages into remembering that the keys are not on your person? I called the non emergency police number, told them where I was, and after signing a damage waiver, he had me back into my car in minutes (no damage at all).
Now I have a husband (Steve da Wrench) to help me out (and vice-versa).
I'd also like to get Onstar in a future vehicle, but it'll be several years before we're able to afford one (hope it's still around then).
