Today is the day I visit the Specialist to find out if I have the start of glaucoma. My reading were "suspiciously" high when I went for an eye exam over a week ago. Scared the willies out of me as I don't want to lose my sight.
I will give you the news tonight. Take care and have a good one.

I found out I do have glaucoma but they are catching it at the early stages. My readings in both eyes are 24 and that is high. They want to get it down to 16 or below.
I was given laser surgery in the clinic on my left eye today and have to go back on friday for an HRT Test. Then in two weeks I go back to get the pressure check in the left eye again and have the surgery performed on my right. I certainly hope the pressure gets down.
Thank you all very much for your thoughts and prayers. I really appreciate it and thank you all for being great friends.

Wow. I'm so sorry to hear that you really do have it.....I was hoping it was just high readings, but not glaucoma itself......but thank God they have caught it in time.
I also hope the laser surgery wasn't too bad or painful for you to go through. And nothing, no job or boss or anything else is as important as you, your health, and your vision.....so please take it easy and take care of yourself....
You KNOW you're in my thoughts and prayers.

It's never good news for a anybody to hear that they have glaucoma, but catching it early is the best possible scenario under these circumstances, bar none! My father developed this later on in his life and kept it under control quite easily with eye drops 2 or 3 times a days and regular checkups. I'm guessing that having laser surgery is a relatively new procedure that's been developed to control it even more efficiently. BTW, cannabis is known to reduce intraoccular pressure in the eye (at least on a temporary basis). I believe that many jurisdictions permit people who have glaucoma to possess marijuana for medicinal reasons. I know that you will do whatever is necessary to keep this under control so that it will have minimal effect on your lifestyle!

the laser is a marvelous tool for eye surgery.
I've had laser done to my eyes and it's truly miracle worker.
Glad it was caught in time. Hope the results are 100%!

OMG..... .....that laser surgery must have really been something to go through.....it sounded a lot different and way more involved than the vision correction surgery that so many people have. They would've had to knock me completely out!
You're one tough cookie!! ....but whaddyuh expect from a badazzzz Michigan boy....

I want to thank all of you for your wonderful replies and thank you for your prayers.
I was very stunned to find out and am only 42 but I guess it can creep up on you at any age. I will be having my second surgery in two weeks on my right eye and am hoping they find out the pressure has been lowered in my left.
As for the surgery yes I have to admit I was a little nervous but now am glad I had it done and know what to expect.
Again thank you all very very much. You are great friends. Posts: 2841 | From: Westland, MI | Registered: Apr 2003

Glad they caught it early. This is why everyone should get their eyes checked regularly, not just the people who need glasses, but everyone. I hope everything comes out OK. Good luck!!

Thank you mhayman. I went almost 3 three years since my last exam and now regret that tremendously.
You are absolutely right about everyone getting their eyes checked regularly so they won't have to go through what I am at the moment. Great advice. Posts: 2841 | From: Westland, MI | Registered: Apr 2003

Sooo....it's been a few days....howya feeling?? Is your vision better or still a little blurry??
Hope you get good news on Friday!
I am doing very well thank you for asking. The soreness is just about gone and the blurriness is history. They had to cancel fridays appointment becuase it would only take a couple of minutes so they decided to combine the two appointments I made together on February 9th. So in a little over a week I guess I will find out the pressure in the left eye, have pictures taken of the optic nerve, and then have surgery on the right. Can't wait to get it over with.
