Its a real SS they just didn't know how to word it well as all SS's start out as a Z/28. and will always be a Z/28 with a opt's package added. Just a bad way to list it and from looking at the pics it's the 335 HP package as it did not have the lid but had most of the other second build opts.

I thought it was a clone at first but the options it has - CME, mats, deck mat - mean that it must be the real deal...or they went to great lengths to clone it. Only way to tell for sure is to check the door sticker.

I believe it is a gennie SS. Nothing is absolute, but I'm leaning heavy that way. Reason I say this is that while most "cloners" put on the hood, spoiler and possibly wheels and grille, the CME is a hard press, and it appears it has the Bilstein or 1LE suspension, although the ad didn't mention which "suspention" system it had. Not saying they couldn't have been robbed from a wrecked one, etc.

But I'd bet most "cloners" don't think about the little things that aren't mentioned, like the lower airbox seal (rubber strip along rad support) right in front of the air filter inlet.

Obviously one look at the door sticker....

...I'd have to go with others on this, ...poor choice of words for a possible real SS. The door sticker and a call to SLP would confirm. ...And the price ($24,500) doesn't seem bad for that car...

I do think it's a real SS, just bad use of words, unless they meant to mean convertable. It is a good price for that car.

Wierd that it appears to have virtually all the available options, but it has the stock shifter . . . .

If it is a clone, man someone did A LOT of work getting all the parts . . .

Ya'll need to read the ad.

quote:
THE ORIGINAL OWNER HAD THE ENGINE UPGRADED AS WELL AS SUSPENTION, EXHAUST, WHEELS, AND MORE!
They also use the word converible in the ad, so it's not a typo.
No one is going to tell you it's a fake if it's real. They will tell you it's real when it's a fake.

Why would they go through that many extensive mods if it wasn't the real deal? Although, after what happened to us, I know the FIRST thing I checked on the one we bought was the RPO codes on the door! [Smile]

If it was a clone, how could they get all the SLP optioned parts without a legitimate SS serial number? I know when I bought my SS grille, I had to give SLP my serial number before they would accept my order.

Also if you read some of the other boards you'll find there are people out there that are willing to provide their VIN and SLP number for friends that want SLP parts.

No Hurst shifter (GM option), no fobs or SS plaque (was not installed on cars but shipped loose in 02) and no SLP airbox even though it has the center exhaust.
