Am I correct in assuming that the nearest road courses to Bowling Green are IRP (Indianapolis) and VIR (Danville, VA)?

Best regardSS,

Elie

Probably unrelated, but this is an event I'm hoping to be able to get on my "to do" list for 2005.

Oh hell yeah!! poSSum you GOTTA' come to Indy for this one!

It's a 15 turn course that allows for some high speed runs down the 1/4 mile (I saw 125+mph) and can be a rhythm track to drive. There's some close quarters coming onto the drag strip, but can be fun!

They've got autoX & drag racing too!

That and it my home town! (well, almost, I'm 50 miles south)

This is me coming onto the drag strip last year!

I was there last year in Indy along with several folks from our KY F-Bodies Club. Our club took home 5 trophies. Even got to meet Doug. I still need to register and make my reservations for this year in Indy. The road course is a GREAT time.

Best regardSS,

There's also my favorite track about 45 miles west of Indy at Putnam Park. A 1.7+ mile, ten turn track. Wonderful facility, great track!

This is turn 10 (last before front straight)

There's also Mid Ohio. "Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is conveniently situated off Interstate 71 in the heart of Ohio. Just 60 miles north of Columbus and 75 miles south of Cleveland, the track is located in Lexington near Mansfield, with easy access from a number of nearby highways and state routes." [Big Grin]

Oooooh! [Smile] I'd love to run my Grand Sport on that road course. I'm going to have to break it in at Road America though. That's my all time favorite road course and I know that track like the back of my hand which really helps.

I was all set to go to Indy last year and had to cancel out just before the payment deadline. I already have the hotel in Indy booked for this year, but haven't registered just yet. A couple of our Toronto F-body club members have been going to this for a few years and rave about it! I really hope I can get there this year. Lapping, autoxing and drag racing all on the same weekend!! F-body Nirvana!

Best regardSS,

Elie

... you haven't fully enjoyed an F-Body until you've taken it around a road course, at speed.

Between my 3rd Gen, which is now my dedicated track car:
 -

and my SS:
 -

it's a blast an a half.

VIR is not close to Indy. Mid-Ohio, Putman Park, IRP, Road America are a lot closer.
