I heard about the incident on the news. I started watching the halftime festivities but didn't care for it. That is just me. Then I heard about what happened later.

UHHMM, Yeh, I saw it, ...err one of them [Big Grin] ...
I was watching the game on and off, Dawn and I were watching the halftime show, ...and when Janet was 'revealed', we both looked at each other, ...and it was like "Did that really happen???" It was at the end of the show, so they went right to a commercial, ...it was quick.
...chalk another one up to TV bloopers ... [Big Grin]

Yeah, I saw that one! [Eek!] (the right one)
[Roll Eyes]
I thought "What the H*** was that?!" They cut away quickly, I thought it was part of the show and in very bad taste. You can bet next years Superbowl will be Barry Manilow, Up With People, etc.

This is very sad. I watched the whole show and never saw it. Must be getting really old. Oh! Maybe I just need new glasses.

What's really sad is that this kink of stuff still titillates (pun intended) the American public. I don't think their ever going to grow up.

It was NOT a pasty.. it was a wierd body jewlery thing and NOT ok for network TV.. im sure there will be FCC flack over this..

I doubt CBS or the NFL knew and it was just a cheap attention ploy by the performers and MTV (ala britney/madonna kiss)..

I hope MTV thinks it was worth it to loose the future work..

and for those thinking it was a "pasty" go here..

WARNING.. NOT WORK SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!! (but hey, its news)

My point exactly. What does he think is going to happen to them. They'll become instant perverts.
If they're young they wouldn't recognize or understand. If they're old enough to recoginze and under stand it's to late.
That he's really worried about is if they ask questions. America's worst nitemare, "we have to talk to the childeren about sex"!!!!

What makes you think he DOSENT talk to them about sex? Dosent mean he want them to see that crap on TV..

I just love the "you can shield them so why bother" argument.....

Really, I don't consider myself naive by any stretch, but there is a time and a place for everything. If I want pornography, I know where to get it. And I know that I really don't want to watch it with my adolescent children while tuning into a major sporting event. I'm big-time into the concept of sportsmanship. That half-time show was what, exactly? Was it entertainment?

What an embarrassment. The regular season advertising on Sunday afternoon is bad enough... Coor's and others with plasticized women's breasts hanging out the sides of bikinis... Again, if I want that, I'll go to the right venue to do so. What is that teaching my daughter? I know, that's my job, but it doesn't make it any easier when Paris Hilton has her butt and chest exposed like a $20 whore during a mid-afternoon advertisement during the game. She may not be a role model, but she perpetuates the myth that this is what American women should look like. Perhaps so if your a young man with $20 on shore leave, but I think we all want our own daughters to marry a respectable guy, become nurturing mothers and raise another generation of good citizens. It's not about being prudish; it's about being appropriate, especially in a family atmosphere. I'm NOT for banning pornography, but just because smut and whores are plastered all over America doesn't mean we can't steer it back into its proper place. Enough already.

And since I’m on a roll, what’s up with Kid Rock cutting a hole in the flag and wearing it? That was horrendous. Like he ever had anything to do with its glory. Wasn’t there always an unwritten rule against turning the flag into clothes? I remember my (veteran) father PO'd that the stars & stripes were used for the '72 Olympic bathing suits, and they weren't even made directly out of a flag. I’m starting to sound just like him… the country is goin' to hellinahandbag.

I had friends over last night. There were 10 kids, 12 and under, sitting in front of my TV watching that.

I agree w/Harry. Though I'm not a prude, there's a time & place for everything.

The half time show was anything but entertaining. I'm not into rappers hanging onto their peepee's (yes, that's a clinical term) or seeing Janet's breast flopped out (though that jewelry was interesting). We couldn't believe what we had just watched and had to rewind/super slo mo it to determine if it was bare, flesh covered fabric, or pastied. It was obviously planned, even though apologies are flying around after the fact.

All in all, it's the hype they were after, and they've succeeded. It's the top subject of talk radio today and office chatter.

Maybe next year they'll go back to marching bands for the half-time show. [Roll Eyes]

Edit: Oh, and Kid Rock wearing the flag was downright tacky, along with Aerosmith's pre-game NASA theme.
It poor flag etiquette to wear a flag as a garment.
Aerosmith may have been attempting a tribute, but it trivialized the seriousness of losing a shuttle and crew.

ABC World News is covering it at the end of the 6:30 show.
edit-it's 6:50 now, not 7:10 like it says above

Totally agree. As a textbook red-blooded, sex-on-the-brain male, there's typically nothing wrong with viewing a bared female breast in the proper and appropriate venue. But sometimes it's not always appropriate for public nudity in OUR culture, although some may disagree. (Just go to Mardi Gras ONCE and you know) However, there's a morality issue at stake. A kind of responsibility for family values, which, I think are being degraded every day.

I have no kids personally, but I'll be danged if I would expose innocent children to adult-entertainment. The stunt was OBVIOUSLY not taking into account that young children would be watching. Kids revere sports figures AND MTV stars, and the SuperBowl halftime show mixes football with musicians. Perfect family entertainment, as long as nobody gets naked. Even if you think Kid Rock's flag-wearing was in poor taste, which I think it was as well, he DID clean up his lyrics because the songs he was singing do NOT sound that clean on his CDs. I do give him credit for that much.

I'd say that it was shocking in the concept that if I had to pick before-hand who would be the raunchiest half-time act between Janet, Justin and Kid Rock, that I would have NEVER guessed the Kid would come in lower than First and not THIRD! [Big Grin]

IMHO....and I've seen him about 3-4 times (gotta luv dem badazz Detroit boyz)....da Kid can step up to the plate in a classy style when pushed to the wall.....I think he's got limits & knows when & where to do this or that....(iz that vague enough?? LOL!!) ....actually, if you listen to his lyrics, he's got a lot of heart, especially for his children.... [Wink]

Isn't that amazing? P Diddy (pee pee Diddy?) did it and I'm like "WTF? This is prime time!" Keep in mind this happened before the boob bobble.

Which brings up this crude observation....since Janet's famous brother fondled his own pee pee when he performed, nobody thought much of it. I guess that gave him the wrong notion (allegedly) that it was ok to fondle others'. [Roll Eyes]

What's amazing is that the more you try to suppress it, the more "tantalizing" it gets. I think the Europeans have it right.
